its funny how anthing a believer does, is so often credited to the big fiction above us. Stuff like "I couldn't have hit that homerun, if not for jesus/god and thosands of hours of practice"

My favorite is "god revealed X to me". As if every thought in your head is not your, but implanted by God. Some people try to distinguish how they can tell the difference, but its always some arbitrary nonsense.

The study of evoution was truly a revealtion to me, how is this any different than any other revealtion ascribed to God?

... the remaining Aetheistic 8-10% believe they alone are the enlightened keepers of truth and the rest of the world and vast majority of people in it are just sadly deluded? If their beliefs really made so much sense, wouldn't more people subscribe to them?

(There are a number of surveys and studies on this topic. All of them put the number of "religious people" - qualified only in the since that they answered in the affirmative when asked if they believed in God or other supreme being/power - in the world at just above or just below 90%, for those who wish to question my statistics.)

I just answered a question posted about who we depended on in times of need. Those who mentioned we depended on Jesus got the most thumbs down. If you would say your family, a friend or your husband it was o.k. but don't you bring Jesus in cause you're going down. What do you make of that?

yet it's known to operate within a person. Why do you ask to be shown proof of God's existance yet He is Spirit. Can you yourselves show or prove the existance of that inner being covered by your shell (body)?

I know it's depressing kind of but isn;t the thought of an after life kind if silly? Also heaven would be horrible it's like living for ever but your life is over! Boring ! People seem to believ what the want to be real, its a little annoying, but I'm not trying to change ANYONES mind at all I value peoples opinion and am glad to see people with great faith in god and their beliefs so don't make it seem like I'm being mean.

My best friend's husband has just broken up with her via text message! this is no joke! he didn't have the maturity or decency to walk the block to her parents house to tell her in person or even call and tell her verbally over the phone- he won't accept her calls either. they've been married for almost 4 years - & were married in the lds temple (ie. for time & eternity). How can someone throw that away so easily? He's refused councelling & doesn't seem to want to do anything towards a reconcilliation. my friend sat down with the bishop (church leader) & her husband was asked to come along & discuss their problems- he REFUSED!!! so my friend had to speak to the bishop alone.
Do you have some advice or words of comfort for my friend?

Jesus said he ONLY came for the JEWS.

Paul made HIS religion the "gentile" version of the message of Jesus while adding some paganism to attract the people.

(Matt 10:5-6)--- Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions: "Don't take the road leading to other nations, and don't enter any Samaritan town. Instead, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

(Matthew 15:24) He (Jesus) replied, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

(Matt 18:11) "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."

I read this article on gen peter pace of the US military about how homosexuals should not be allowed in the military and this is his quoted statement:
"We need to be very precise then, about what I said wearing my stars and being very conscious of it," he added. "And that is, very simply, that we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law."
What is wrong with the religious and how can they even in their subconscious mind think that ANY law of this country should be based on THEIR religious beliefs? Can anyone be any more narcissistic as to think that everyone should be mandated by law to live by THEIR beliefs?

have to bash us in order to justify their own faith? I do. I think that they say things like he does "all Catholics are going to hell" "no Catholics are saved" yada yada, because they are so insecure in their own faith.

Your opinion?

I took the advice of some of the people here on Y! Answers...It didnt go over so well. Mom was sort of tweeked when her sixteen year old son mentioned Atheism and now if I try to talk to her she tries to coax God into it somehow. It seems like all I do is argue with my mother about religion now and I don't want to argue! She can be Christian that's fine with me, but I do not want to be, that's that. Why does she resent me now? Did I make a bad choice and should I stop looking at things so rationally and go back to church and keep my mouth shut?

I think the Kingdom Gospel Jesus preached is the one and only Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Can anyone explain it to me. Jesus talked about the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God over 30 times, but it seems when I hear others talk about the gospel, they never quote any ot those over 30 referecnes. Can you do it?

There have been real decent attempts at it... like here, http://gospelenigma.com , but I want to hear how you describe that Kingdom Gospel, using those verses that actually have references to the kingdom in them. (for example: "the kingdom is within you.") Now, I know that verse is in the process of being "modified" because of the perceived threat of Yoga and Meditation... but you have many other verses about the Kingdom you can choose from.

So can you explain that original gospel using those real Kingdom Gospel verses?

I know plenty of good, benevolent people who are atheists. According to Christianity, they are going to hell when they die, does this mean hell is a bad place if there are at least some good people there?

A teenager in Florida who is both Goth and Wiccan argues that it is.

http://paganwiccan.about.com/b/a/000087.htm?nl=1

She says she needs to look Goth to express herself as a Witch. Personally, I disagree with that--most Witches I know aren't Gothy at all, and I myself prefer white, turquoise, and green. But I do think outlawing a certain dress style is stupid.

That everyone you know someday will die? And that once you are dead you will never know you ever existed in the first place.

Is this why some people are weak and need to invent religions?

Life is beautiful im glad i don't need to believe in a fake afterlife to know this.
