If he eventually loved people enough to send his only son to break his deal to torture everyone who didn't follow a few strict rules, and knew this was going to happen... Why make the original deal to torture everyone but the Jews who obey his several hundred laws to begin with?...

What God does is not for Himself....He does it for us...funny how the Gentiles were grafted in...there is no difference between Jew and Greek and free and slave in Gods eyes. Didn't Jesus's death do away with the law of sin and death?. Didn't Jesus say I came not to abolish the laws but to fulfill them?

funny thing is you cannot be saved by the laws, but by believing in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10: 9-13
9) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
11 ) As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.
12)For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13) for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

The Laws are there to show us how sinful we really are. And our need for Jesus Christ.

I've always wondered why polygamy and incest were OK 'in the beginning' but not later on. Hmmm. Seems society does have an impact, after all.

Edit: Sometimes I wonder if these people understand the English language.

Edit II: We are sooo needy. You'd think a divine creator would do better. BTW, doesn't Romans 10:12 kinda contradict the fact that God never tells the Pharaoh (Genesis-Abraham story) not to quit worshipping the Egyptian pantheon?)

I don't think this is going to answer your question, but I once asked a question from a Messianic Jewish pastor. I asked him: Before Jesus came, how were people saved? He told me that the Jews believed in the promises of God. They trusted that he was going to bring the Messiah to save them. Their faith saved them. God did not get rid of the Old Covenant when Jesus came, rather he fullfilled it. What was recorded in the Old Testament came to life when Jesus appeared on earth. Now, everyone who believes in him will be saved.

The reason for the Law Covenant was to show people just how far removed they were/are from perfection... No matter how hard they tried to fulfil it, they couldn't. This was their tutor, leading to Christ.

"However, before the faith arrived, we were being guarded under law, being delivered up together into custody, looking to the faith that was destined to be revealed. Consequently the Law has become our tutor leading to Christ, that we might be declared righteous due to faith. But now that the faith has arrived, we are no longer under a tutor." --Galations 3:23-25

Nowhere in Scripture does God use torture!
He condemns torture, &, those who use it!
Just one of many examples is:

"Furthermore, they built the high places of Ba′al that are in the valley of the son of Hin′nom, in order to make their sons and their daughters pass through [the fire] to Mo′lech, a thing that I did not command them, neither did it come up into my heart to do this detestable thing, for the purpose of making Judah sin." --Jeremiah 32:35 http://watchtower.org/bible/jer/chapter_032.htm?bk=jer;chp=32;vs=51;citation#bk35

If you are refering to the torment of hellfire, that is a total myth.
The lake of fire symbolizes the permanent destruction of those who make a practise of knowingly & willfully going against God, adamic death & its resultant common grave for mankind.

Besides, being omnipotent means he is *capable* of knowing everything... Not that he is always aware of everything. Having the capacity to be able to do something doesn't mean that the person uses that capacity to its fullest.

Minus your unfounded rhetoric, in essence, God decreed for history to unfold the way it is. Everything is going according to His plan. The Bible is a revelation of God's plan of salvation which began with His promise in Genesis 3 onward.

The law had one purpose. Read Romans and see what Paul said the purpose of the law was.

Because of unbelief God sent his Son to die for the world
because God could see the world going to Hell.
