Well, I am a cheater, because I have proof of God's miracles. The Bible tells us that we are blessed, who believe by faith, and not by proof.
We had invited the children from the Barrio to a homemade ice cream feed. As there was a major language barrier, we didn't expect more than 20 children..We only had 3 gallons of ice cream, and 1 gallon of punch, and 250 children! AND Parents!
The pastor's wife was so distraught..she said, just feed the youngest first, because they are too little to understand that we don't have enough.. The pastor prayed over the food and asked God to bless it. So, we began with the pre-schoolers and worked up according to grade in school, to the adults and workers..
We served 250 children each a big bowl, and all 9 workers ate it and we had leftovers to take home. . One third of everything was left over... God is real. And He is still working miracles.
>>
Now, others believe because they see the difference in their own lives and attitudes, and some believe because they have actually met the Lord.
I believe because I have met the Lord, He has changed me inside and out, and I have seen many wondrous miracles.
But, then, I admire those who believe by simple faith.

The bible says that they devils know there is a God and tremble. There is something built into the spirit of every human that knows there is a God. Not everyone admits that. But when the times of crisis or trouble come, every human cries out to God.
Not all humans believe in the one true God. We know from the bible that the enemy, the satan, is a cherub. Cherubs have four faces. (ez) Many faiths are based on this four face being. They call it lots of things, but it is all devil (cherub) worship. Many native american faiths are based on this 4 element worship-- earth, sun, water and ?
In the bible there are certain sayings related to the 4 faces-- certain descriptions God uses
1. queen of heaven (people now call it mother nature or gaia or goddess
2. prince of tyre (tammuz)
3. Baal
4. mammon
If you look at many paganist religions you will begin to be able to see the worship of one of the faces of the fallen cherub.
On the road to Damascus, Saul had an experience that changed forever his life and belief system. He was a Jewish bible scholar. He knew the bible front and back. He was a pharisee, and a teacher. But until he had that face to face experience with the Lord Jesus, Saul was Saul. Suddenly, he became Paul at the moment of experience.
People can know the word of God - the BIble- front and back. They can study it and even preach it. But until that one moment of "meeting" the Lord Jesus they are the same person. But in the life of every believer, there comes a time when suddenly, the veil is lifted scales fall from the eyes, and you meet the Lord and you Know that you Know that you Know that He is real and loves you. He died for you. There is always a point in time, an experience that changes people. It isn't a physical thing, it is just an epiphany (for lack of a better word).
Many people can wonder and ask questions. But nobody can do this or give this to another human. They just have to meet the Lord Jesus themselves. The preaching of the gospel (good news) is to those that are lost foolishness, but to those that are saved it is the power of God. There is a moment of recognition when the Gospel is no longer just words. It is power. And that "recognition" occurs at the moment of experience like saul-paul had.
And --
there is much confusion within the Chrisitan community itself as to what constitutes the gospel. "get rid of the sin you dirty rotten sinner, you are going to hell" is not the gospel. "give me money so God will bless you" is not the gospel. A lot of what is counterfeited and called gospel is greed and religion wrapped in a pretty marketing campaign.

I was and to a certain extent still am stubborn and need to be control. When I lost everything, money, marriage, job, home and suffered from depression, I had no where to go. I listened to a radio call in station called "God only knows". These people had a variety of problems and turned their lives over to God, so I did. My problems became manageable and I've met the most wonderful people in my life. Life is not easy, but I have a sense of peace and hope I never had. I suppose others believe for the same reason. God bless

1) I believe because I cannot look at the stars on a clear night or sunrise any morning and tell myself there is no God. I believe because of the wonders I see in his creation and the wonders he has done in my life.
2) I cannot answer this question. I cannot fathom other people's minds, and I am not responsible for their thoughts.
I do know that Jesus told his disciples, of which I count myself, to tell others about him.
The Holy Spirit is responsible for the outcome.
