Refer to the Commandment Thou Shalt Not Murder(Kill), and Christians will refer you to many verses where God says to kill.
Refer to Loving, and Christians will refer you to verses that say Hate your enemies, etc. Refer to peace, and Christians will refer you to verses that say Make War, Refer to the new covenant and Christians will quote Jesus saying he didn't come to change anything from the old teachings (OT).
No wonder we have so many Christian denominations, since the Bible is chockful of contradictions proving it is nothing but a bunch of personal opinions of various writers having nothing whatever to do with the word of God. God would not be idiotic enough to contradict themself a thousand times over!

I understand that if you don't work period, you won't eat and you will die. I don't think that's what it means. Starvation is a fantastic motivational tool and needs no support.

I think laziness is more a question of economic utility than morality. Or is being economically useful considered moral from a Christian standpoint? Or are the Seven Deadly Sins outdated?

Gluttony has economic motivations too and is certainly outdated or else a ton of Americans are going to hell.

I guess my real questions are: Is being economically useful considered moral from a Christian standpoint? Are people who make more money then considered more moral?

You don't have to give all the details just a few sentences of why this year happens to be wonderful than the others or if you have had any blessings. I have plenty and for the first time in a long time am starting to be happy again.

I also recently read about the "Day of the Lord" and i need to expand and enrich my understanding of it, I got the general idea about it but need to understand in depth, I've read some verses about it in the Bible but i need to study it further, if you have any Biblical references please feel free to pass along.

I have a question, it is kind of silly, but... Does the Holy Element or Divine Element always have to do with God or Christianity of any sort?

Thank you.

I have a question in my Bible as Literature class about cosmology and Im hoping someone can help me out. The question is about Gen 1-2:4a and about Gen 2:4b-2:25...

Can you detect the cosmology (how the universe is arranged) that the story uses? Describe it.

I dont know the answer, and I dont have the slightest idea of how to start answering it. Any ideas would help. Thanks!!

I was once very lost in a big city and I noticed I would get to a street corner and the wind would pick up and start blowing a certain direction every once in awhile at different street corners the wind would change directions again? The animals would also start to travel different directions along with the wind. What was going on was God leading me, or is there some other explanation?

if you read one book over and over and over , and never exercise your mind outside of this hypnotic state that envelopes you, and you just stand by as your brain cells slowly disintegrate back into the primordial slime which all man arose from, would you consider it ritualistic euthanasia?

I believe that a claim to be a Savior, in itself, is a claim to deity since there is only one Savior - God.

What is your take on this?

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" Matthew 7:21-23 NIV

My boyfriend is unworthy to serve a mission. I won't go into details, I'm sure that you can guess why...

He's already gotten his call and he's leaving in four weeks. He doesn't feel guilty at all about what we do.

How can someone go against everything he's been taught and lie so blatantly? How can his converts trust him? What do I do?

I never did understand the aversion to Halloween. Is it because the Christian calender never found a holiday to off set it? Christians celebrate Christmas, made on the day of the Winter Solstice pagan holiday, and Easter for Ishtar the Babylonian goddess of fertility. The Christians, of course, changed the name of the holiday but the dates and origins are still pagan. So if you celebrate all these other holidays that's origins come from pagan holidays, why not let your children enjoy a day of candy and social interaction? Isn't it a bit hypocritical to pick and choose pagan holidays to celebrate, stating that some are holy while others unholy?

According to the Christian bible - God created the heavens and the earth in seven days. By saying God created this - then he created that, so and so forth- the bible describes in somewhat graphic detail the workings of a temporal being.
The Bible does not make any reference to God creating time. The Bible says that God created different things at different places in time. For an all-powerful being, why would God be bound by space and time? Can you do everything at once everywhere? Can anyone or anything do something or be everywhere at one time everywhere in space? No, well according to the Bible neither could God.

The other day, I asked a question to those who claim to be spritually minded. And I received answers from them as I would expect. But to my surprise, I also received answers from Athiests. Now I don't want to bash them. They are of course allowed to give their thoughts to. But? why here? After some examination, athiests are found to hang around here alot. You know I thought if I were athiests, the last place you would find me is anyplace that discusses theological thought. Why do you care enough to come here and give your input? what interest do you have in Spirituality? Maybe you are not as athiest as you say you are. During WW2 A german U boat captain once said, I have seen self proclaimed athiests forget that they are athiests when the depth chargers were being dropped on their sub. Anyway one answer that I received said, why don't I read a science book? You know what? I love reading science books. Especially astronomy. Everytime I look into space. It screams CREATOR!

17And this signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues:

18They shall take up serpents: and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

I have been looking, and looking, and looking, and can hardly find any extensive information on angels. If anyone has any sites or books that have such information, it would be highly appreciated. I'm especially looking for info on the fallen angels and the nephilim.

a creater of all things. What or who God is I don't know? I don't think we just die and that is it. I believe we are more than our physical body and have a soul, energy that goes on. I don't like to label myself and I don't think you have to go to some Corporate Church to believe this........so if I were to have a label for my "religion" what would It be? Just curious.

Or is the whole God concept the offshoot of some circular reasoning like if 'a'='b', then 'b'='a' and oh by the way, 'a' exists because 'a'='a'?
