Whose version of God?

Even if your God truly exists, how can our government be ruled by him if he keeps himself invisible to the masses? Put simply, it's impossible. Only man's perception of God and what God wants will matter - and everyone's understanding and interpretation are different. Muslim, Jew, Christian, Pagan, etc. - all of these people, even within our own sects- would disagree. And the atheists? Should we hang them for heresy? If you want a government ruled by God find God and ask him to join a party line.

If I knew for a fact that the leader was called of by God and was a prophet then I wouldnt have much of a problem with it.

but in todays society, heck no

I think we will be responsible for the type of leaders we elect. We should be electing people whos views are in sync with Gods, imo, but we shouldnt be wanting a church to run our everyday lives. There are just too many diff religions and faiths and beliefs.

In a way all of our laws and the direction of our nation is affected by our religions and our values because we vote based on our values.

We have too many people claiming to know what God is telling us to do to have a society based on that. We dont need to take our values and the concept of right and wrong out of society. But reading all the mormon bashing that goes on here, I really really dont want those type of people ruling over me.

Nope. i'm an atheist, so as that does no longer be constructive to me. Socky: valuable. Blame each and every thing on the atheists. The Christians, Muslims and Jews have screwed up this planet to a techniques previous a ingredient a no return, even nevertheless it rather is all our faults. Breezy: Such commuinists do no longer exist exterior of propaganda. Or the 1950's on the least.

Never, despite being spiritual myself. God(Goddess) gave us free will. If He(She) gave it to us, who are we to take it away from others? Perhaps we should be like the president of Iran to say that there are no homosexuals in Iran? Would America as a theocratic society state that we have no heathens in America? Would they be dealt with in a similar way? By death or flogging?
It is our God given right to chose if we want to follow God(Goddess). No one should ever enforce that upon another person.

there's no such thing as pure theocratic society, it's too ideal, an utopia. a mere human like us can't build something like this or live inside one . . . we'll be miserable, bored, and be punished everyday for our automatic-mortal mischieves >_<

btw, what's a theocratic society for you anyway?

i'm a moslem, and i believe that the most ideal theocratic society on earth was the moslem society under the Prophet Muhammad. After him . . . there's only hypocrisy left in the so called moslem country . . . and I definitely don't want to live in it.

A theocracy isn't ruled by God; it's a society ruled by people who think they have a direct connection to God, and think that everyone else is confused, lost, or damned.

No, I wouldn't want to live in such a society, but I find myself trapped in one. It;'s called the U.S. A.

The only question I would have is WHICH God....

As a polytheist, I'm not likely to be worshipping the God of that society...

So, on that basis..... ABSOLUTELY NOT (Even if it was MY Gods, as I understand that not everyone is suited to Their worship)

Good goddess no! Blood shed for freedom! Not theocracy. It would be the highest insult imaginable to the US. Its the FIRSt amendment for a reason.

I am APPALLED at the "yes's" to this! You want a theocracy, go live in Iran. Let me know how it works out for you. It's easy to want a theocracy when you THINK it will be your religion. But who says it will? Who says it won't be Catholic,Southern Baptisit or Muslim? If you are none of those things I bet you'd be screaming your head off for Freedom of Religion then. Do you people even think before you type??

No, because the "god" that rules might not be the God that I worship and adore.
