That pastors will be thrown in jail for preaching against homosexuals if a certain bill is passed in Congress:

Could some good Christians please show me in here where it makes it a crime to preach against homosexuality?

If the U.S. becomes a Theocratic nation like some of you want...will you still have physical punishment? From the answers that I have seen, whenever you do something really bad, it is the Devil doing it through you...so does that mean when someone breaks the law, they will not be punished? Since, according to the above line of thinking, it was not you who did the crime, but Satan? And IF you have physical punishment, and if it WAS Satan who "guided" or "posessed" you to do it, where would be the fairness to said person who did the crime, when it really was not him who did it? Just wondering, and OH is this going to be fun....^_^

A retiring Roman Catholic bishop in the Netherlands has been making headlines around the world in recent days with his suggestion that Dutch Christians should pray to Allah.

Bishop Tiny Muskens of Breda, a former missionary to Indonesia, suggested that conflict between Christians and Muslims could be lessened if Dutch Catholics followed the lead of some Christians in Muslim-dominated lands and adopted Allah as the preferred name for God..

I've read several posts where Christians say this is what they think of the book, but haven't seen an explanation of why they do.

Okay, I am a proud Athiest. I have many god fearing friends and they all say that they love me but I am going to hell for not believing in God. But my thing is this, if there was a "God" and apparently is a loving and just God, could he/she blame me for not believing the story told throughout history? I mean the story is so far fetched. How the earth was made in Genesis, how Mary got pregnant, how Jesus arose from the dead, and so on and so forth. I mean the story sounds like a bad sci-fi book. So if there is a just and loving "God" wouldn't you think that even though a person doesn't believe in Him/Her but lives a moral life, that person would still go to "heaven"? It just doesn't seem fair...I don't know if this made sense to anyone but yeah...looking forward to reading your replies.

the "myths" section? Isn't this going against "teaching religion at school"? Also, I go to a public school, and I live in a pretty liberal, free-spirited community (not many fundies here), so why is it set up like that? It's kind of annoying that they don't have more respect for other religions...your opinions?

I doing the whole working and going to school thing and it can be pretty hard on the finances as you are all aware. My school decides to offer this to too Israel and view the Holy Land and to study at a nearby University for a month. I can transfer the credits back to school. I really want to go but need to come up with about $5,500 by the spring. Any ideas?

Hey, if you were interested in dating someone, would you:

A. start dating them first and see how well your relationship will work before asking what religion they were?

Or

B. would you meet them, get to know a little about them, and find out their religion before dating?

If your answer is B., how would you go about finding this out without being rude?

What should I do?

Isn't it....every man for himself? Heaven...Hell....??
Why would God let Jesus die for all your sins? Then Christians would be free to do whatever they want....this world would go crazy...everyone would be doing bad things...?? How would God allow that?? Or...am I not right?? If I am not right, what is the Christian belief about this concept..."intercession"?

"The word 'al-Taqiyya' literally means: "Concealing or disguising one's beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of imminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury."

In other words, Muslims are taught from their original false prophet mohammad (sbuh) that they can lie about their religion if it will help them further their cause.

After 1400 years of terrorism (muhammad of mecca was the original terrorist) why would they stop now?

In Isaiah 29 he speaks about a book . . .

11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a a BOOK that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the BOOK is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the BOOK and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

What is this book he is talking about?

What to watch for:
A comet named Gochihr strikes Earth, causing the human race to act “like a sheep being attacked by a wolf.”
What comes next:
Waves of holy, molten metal ripple across the entire surface of the world. All people, living and dead, will be judged. Those who have spent their time feeding the poor and not making fun of people with bad haircuts will be able to swim around in the lava-like "warm milk." The heartless ones, such as murderers and cruel reality-show judges, will be burned until their sins are gone. Most of us will wind up doing the flaming backstroke long before the screaming stops
As the burning continues, a virgin-born man named Saoshyant, or “one who brings benefit”, will defeat the forces of evil and usher in a perfect world where no one ever suffers or dies.
Can you survive it?
Sure. Even the worst cat-raping bastard is only looking at three days of agony, followed by eternal paradise once all the bad parts are gone. It’s fairly easy to see why Zoroastrianism makes the followers of newer religions irritable.

What to watch for:
A three-season-long winter. Of course, with all the mindless killing we’ll be doing, we'll barely notice.
What comes next:
Wolves eat the sun, Norse Trickster God Loki escapes from ropes made of his son’s intestines and hijacks a ship made of dead men’s toenails, and Jörmungandr, the World Serpent, rises from the oceans and spews poison across the lands and skies. Regardless of the fact that they know full well how the whole damn thing is going to end, the gods stab, poison, burn and eat each other until Earth sinks into the ocean.
Can you survive it?
We have a really narrow window here. The short version is that this is all Loki’s fault, despite that he’s currently tied up beneath the world getting venom dripped into his eyes. Once he gets free, you can’t turn around anywhere on Earth without bumping into dragons, fallen world trees and cowardly Viking zombies.
Only two humans, Lif and Lifthrasir, are scheduled to survive Ragnarök by hiding in the Yggdrasil, the world tree. It stands to reason that a tree large enough to connect hell, Earth and the heavens together would have plenty of places to hide, though

Why would being an atheist make a candidate unelectable? Seems that Rational thinking of an atheist would be an admirable quality, especially with what we know about religion and it's dwindling likeliness. Fact.....Jesus has no known writings...ever. His execution was not recorded by Pontius Pilate (whom kept detailed records of such things.) Furthermore, noone that wrote the Bible had ever actually met Jesus...It is more possible that he is a mythological god than even ever being a real person. So with this in mind, why is it that our elected officials must be religious in some way or another? Wouldn't that just be asking for an uneducated fool

Nahui Ollin – The End of the Fifth Era
Source: Aztec mythology
What to watch for:
A total solar eclipse lasting forever. This happens because the Aztec nation was destroyed by Spanish invaders in the 1500s, and hasn’t been feeding Nanahuatzin, or the Sun, the human sacrifices he needs to stay healthy and strong. Good going, Spain.
What comes next:
According to most early Central American cultures, the world has already ended four to five times, by methods ranging from flood to armies of hungry jaguars. Our world will apparently get the terrifying Tzitzimime, depicted as either skeletons with rattlesnake penises, or a race of bony, female spider monsters from the stars.
The Aztecs believed the sun would save us from the Tzitzimime, had they been allowed to keep feeding it human hearts. But, of course, ******' Spain came along.
Can you survive it?
