If 99% of Americans believe in the ten commandments, how can the Bible be repulsive? Let's take the fourth commandment as an example. It says:

Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labour and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. [Exodus 20: 8-9]
This, supposedly, is the word of God, the almighty ruler of the universe.
Now think about this. Wal-mart is open on the Sabbath. And so is Target. Best buy is open on the Sabbath. And so is Circuit City. Home Depot is open on the Sabbath. And so is Lowes. In fact, millions of businesses in America have employees working on the Sabbath. Even Christian Family Bookstores has employees working on the Sabbath.

What should we do with all of these people who are breaking the fourth commandment?

In the Bible's book of exodus - the same book that contains the ten commandments – the Bible tells us what to do with everyone who breaks the fourth commandment. Exodus 31 verse 15 tells us exactly what to do:

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
That's right. The Bible commands the death penalty for anyone who works on the Sabbath, and we should obey. Right? This means we have to kill tens of millions of Americans.
Should we line these tens of millions of Americans up and shoot them?

Should we put them in giant gas chambers?

I put this question not to offend anyone. An Evangelist in a TV Programme put a testimony of an old man with his wife on the stage. The oldie said on arrival at an international airport his wife suddenly collapsed and fell flat on the ground. Then Jesus came down and took her soul away and for the next three hours according to the lady Jesus showed her around heaven and after three hours He put her back to the body to the relief of her sorry-stricken husband. Now I put these questions for your intellectual assessment. Why the Airport authorities allow the husband to keep the dead body at the terminus for 3 hours? Was he sure that she was taken up by Jesus for entertaining her and did Jesus tell him so as He had in the past appeared and talked to so many fraudulent Evangelists? I reacted putting the entire thing in my blogspot; but why Christians chose to remain silent? Real faith honours God and do not insult Him for cash and favours?

If god does exist, (and assume for a minute we are talking about the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful god the christians love so much), he would certainly know how to convince me of his existence, and also have the power to do whatever that thing was to convince me.
The fact that I remain unconvinced right now leaves only two options as far as I can see:

1) God exists, but does not want me to believe in him.
2) God does not exist

Which is correct?

5:116. And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

Let's say you are sitting on a bus stop bench, reading
The Bible. A tall, slim man in a long white robe and
sandals, with long hair and a beard walks up to you
and, seeing what you're reading, says to you: "I see
that you are at peace, my dear friend. You know my
name. And, lo... I am at peace, too, knowing that.
"You have a good heart. God bless you..."
(And, just before this man walks away, he correctly
speaks your name.)
What would your immediate reaction be?

I posted this question in the US section, yesterday eve.
I pointed out that I'm not trying to mock Christianity. I'm
just interested in knowing:
1) If you are sure that the second-coming of Jesus is an
eventuality, what would it take to convince you that of that
happening?
2) How would you perceive any sort of mysteriously un-
explainable event?

Thanks, in advance, for all of your answers!

Peace.

I don't understand the need for religion. Religion makes God look bad, makes people against other people. Most published bibles today are not even the original bible but mere interpritations. How do we know that what we are reading now isnt all just something changed over and over back 500 years ago. This isn't a debate whether god exists or not but more the reason for organized religion. Wouldn't the world be better off without it and allow everyone to worship for themselves?

This is a strange question. I noticed every pitcher I have seen of Adam and Eve, that they where portrayed as being caucasian. I read Geniuses, It said nothing about there race. How did people come to the conclusion they where caucasian? Is it possable they where a different race? Maybe a race that no longer exists?

I'm going to read the Bible all the way through. I jsut started.

Doesn't the Qu'ran define the trinity as God (Father), Mary and Jesus.
5:116. And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it.
