This is a strange question. I noticed every pitcher I have seen of Adam and Eve, that they where portrayed as being caucasian. I read Geniuses, It said nothing about there race. How did people come to the conclusion they where caucasian? Is it possable they where a different race? Maybe a race that no longer exists?

I'm going to read the Bible all the way through. I jsut started.

As a Christian I am thrilled that you are reading the Bible thru from cover to cover, I have did that since 1994. I learn so much every year. And right away you have noticed something about Adam and Eve and you are exactly right. People in the middle east do not look like white people in America. Jesus Christ was not a European. The garden of eden is believed to have been from Isreal towards Iraq and Iran, all of that area. Possibly a 1500 mile square with Jerusalem being the eastern point according to some Bible scholars. Of course in those day it wasn't called Iran and Iraq, those countries names were changed not to many years ago. Good luck with your reading, Please email me if you have any questions, something I do every year is I start in the old and the new testaments rotating back and forth, it gives you a change up and a new look at things. God Bless YOU on your journey!!!!!

Whoever wins a war writes the history. It seems that somehow Caucasians won the ability to make everyone, including Jesus white. Jesus could not have been white with blue eyes, it just makes no sense. He was a Jew. The Bible also said, "there was no comeliness about him." In other words, he was much less than good-looking. Makes every picture I've seen of him were all incorrect. Also as far as reading the entire Bible. I was taught by a supposed authority that the old testament passed away with the fulfillment of all its prophecy's were fulfilled with the birth of Christ. Only the New Testament is for this day and age.
Peace

Genesis, not Geniuses, haha. The Bible does not say. You see them depicted as caucasians because te artists were caucasians painting for a caucasian, specifically European, audience. Adam derives from an ancient Semitic root that means that refers to red clay. In the mayan popol Vuh the people that the gods made of clay were also red.

Maybe Adam and Eve were American Indians. Does it really matter?

No one was alive to see them that painted, so we can only go by the impression of artists that pant what they think, most of them think along the Caucasian line as most of the paintings were from the Middle Ages and the Artists then were mostly of European bloodlines. But then it really is not important what they looked like. What truly matters is this, Have you been Born Again ? The questions about Adam and Eve are nothing compared to the need you have to repent of your sins and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, then to receive the Holy Spirit

It's just pictures that some artist did. There are no photographs of Adam and Eve. Don't get hung up on the race issue.
Congratulations on reading the Bible. I hope you make it all the way through and then read it again.

Hi there.

At that time they were the only people alive ,,so there was NO racial differences like we see today.

They were their own race.

Because of this there was no need to describe in the Bible what their skin color or appearance was like.

Any conjecture of what they looked like is purely an exercise for the brain.

There is no way to prove it and it doesn't mean anything anyway.

Therefore any pictorial representations can not possibly be definitive on the subject as there is NO Biblical proof on the matter.

Interestingly enough, due to the way humans reproduce, Eve's very own mitochondrial DNA is still present in the body cells of every present day human man or woman.

And while various cultures tend to claim Adam and Eve, (and Jesus, too) for their "very own" nobody knows for certain how they looked.

Then we have Noah's flood, which certainly mixed things up even more.

The most important point to remember is that Jesus is the "New Adam" who fixed the mess our first parents made for us, by resisting all temptation and sin, by doing the will of his Father, even unto death on the cross, and by defeating death for us all.

Keep this in mind while you're reading the true story of how God brought about our redemption through his son, Christ Jesus, and you'll never lose sight of the "big picture".

Just learned in genetics class that two medium-skinned individuals (AaBb) would have been capable of producing 16 shades of children ranging from pure white (aabb) to pure black (AABB). Statistically then, out of 16 first generation children, there would have been 1 pure white, 1 pure black and 14 intermediate shades - like a big litter of puppies!

And now see what the Bible says!

Act 17:26 And God hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Act 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

Remember; no one really knows, apart from God, what Adam or Eve looked like. Although they are sometimes depicted as being Caucasian, no one knows for sure. Artists just paint them that way.
