If god does exist, (and assume for a minute we are talking about the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful god the christians love so much), he would certainly know how to convince me of his existence, and also have the power to do whatever that thing was to convince me.
The fact that I remain unconvinced right now leaves only two options as far as I can see:
1) God exists, but does not want me to believe in him.
2) God does not exist
Which is correct?

you guys don't make any sense. I don't know what would utterly convince me, but if anyone does know, surely it would be god? Why hasn't he done whatever it is to convince me?

Or 3) God does exist but doesnt work on your timetable but his -
my comment: if god is all powerful he doesn't need a timetable. he can do anything. of course this includes option 1. he simply doesn't want me to believe in him.
4)God does exist and is waiting for you to make a genuine effort to find him -
my comment: I have. I was a genuine christian for the first 20 years of my life. I really believed then.
5) God does exist and is trying to reach you but you keep justifying away every attempt he makes -
my comment: not exactly 'all powerful' then is he? The bible is full of spectacular miracles but all we get these days are things that can easily be explained by natural means.

meena s: are you saying that god doesn't care whether i believe in him or not?
that is a valid option I suppose, but pretty similar to option 1.

God does not exist.
"The idea of an omnipotent God who creates a creature capable of reason, then throws an eternal hissy fit when that creature doesn't spend all his time telling God how wonderful He is... Well it seems like rather insecure behavior for an all powerful, all loving being."
"If the lord had meant us to have faith, he'd have given us lobotomies." — Zlatko.
I think it is really interesting how all the religious people seem to know what God wants.

It is up to each individual to believe in God or not to believe in God.God does reveal Himself but not everyone can see .You have to believe in the possibility of a God without proof. If you can't get passed this first stage then you will never see.Remember just the possibility, no matter how remote. This will not be a good enough answer to most people who demand proof but there is no other way. I am a Christian and at times i question if there really is a God also, but at least i've got past the first stage.

God doesn't convince people to follow him. This is what Satan does.God's ways are more complicated because He tests your faith. This life we live in isn't real. One minute you may think you have everything and the next you have nothing. This is the way that God shows us that this life on Earth is only an illusion and that the true life comes in death. Death not being the end but the beginning.
It's very easy to say -- like most people do -- God isn't listening to me, isn't doing anything thus he doesn't exist.
Tell me something: do you see the wind? do you see love? No, you don't but they do exist because you FEEL them. That's the way with God: you feel Him because you have faith.
Do not - ever - expect miracles! miracles - as in something you've never seen -- are made with illusions.God makes miracles everyday. For example when a person's cancer disappears do you think that that is a coincidence? No, it isn't. God exists in everything! He makes his presence felt every second. You just have to pay attention more carefully.

As usual you are blaming some one else for your own mistake. God doesnt need anything from us. Whether we believe Him or not is not a condition for Him. He is above any such need. We need to believe in God for our own benefit. Just find out answers for some questions. What is soul or life inside you? After death are we going into a state of nothing or something is in wait for all of us? Man has been given the power to think and also the Free-Will to choose. Nothing is compulsory in this world. when we see smoke at a distance we know there is fire there. Depending on the thickness of the smoke we decide whether we can go there. We dont demand we should see the fire to believe it. Or touch the fire to feel the heat. Same applies to God. Look around you. Look in your own body. There are so many wonders proclaiming the existence of the all powerful, all knowing, God of Bible, Quran and all other holy books.

Neither of your options are actual options. God did show His power and love to you. He gave unto death His only Son so you could be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus, as God, taught us many things and died for you. What more could He do? Hi displayed His power and love by turning water into wine, healing the sick, making a lame person walk, walking on water, coming back to life after being tortured, crucified,...killed. Just to mention a few illustrations of His power and love. Short story: A person asked God a question similar to yours but asked Him why He didn't send someone that would find a cure for major deceases like cancer. God answered that person by saying "I did send someone that would do these things, but he was aborted and denied life. He never got the chance to implement the cures." This is a hypothetical story, but it does make a person think. God offers you a way to believe and love Him. It's up to you to accept it.

It appears to me that God is in the process of convincing you. You say that you were once a Christian. Then you’d remember that no one comes to the Father except that He Himself draws him. The fact that you remain unconvinced is not because God does not want you to believe in Him or that He doesn’t exist. But it’s because you’re still in the middle of a process. Just because you haven’t reached the destination doesn’t mean you haven’t left. Besides, just because spinach is good for you, would it be right for your parents to pry open your mouth and force it into you when you haven’t made up your mind about eating it? That’s dysfunctional love. I think God respects you a lot and is eagerly waiting for you.

perhaps the answer lies within your question .if you truly believe either of your assertions then why pose the question?
the obvious answer is that on some level you wish to believe in a benevolent god and for your sake i certainly hope your right.
o.k. that was a little harsh , lets consider every thing in the universe and lets just say it was all a big accident ,,,kinda hard to swallow don't you think?
listen my friend i don't know you but it dosn't really matter all that much the thing is there was this guy named JESUS that felt so strongly on the subject that he put his life on the line (although he didn't have to) thinking that he could give his life up so that you could live forever with this god that you are so quick to deny.
i'm not a very smart man and i'm not even all that well educated but i have seldom seen that type of conviction in my fellow man during this lifetime.
so anyway consider this before you give up on faith.
most sincerely joe

i'm going to respond to this question from an agnostic point of view, that being the existence of God is in no thank you to be shown or disproven. I worry God, even although i'm unsure if He exists. Christianity might tell me i pass to hell for this. Atheists might call me a fence sitter. ultimately, i'm basically a realist. we are able to all see the complexity of the Universe, and no volume of technology can fairly clarify the existence we live in. No volume of biblical scripture can teach so otherwise. in actuality, biblical scripture states that noone will ever teach his existence, for he desires it to no longer be till judgement day. i assume you will be able to desire to look at it logically: There are 3 recommendations: a million. Universe exists devoid of any author: unlikely yet attainable. 2. Universe exists with nameless author: achievable clarification. 3. Universe exists with author who identifies himself with information. interior the form of decision 3, we would all on the instant obey God because of the fact the outcomes may be very specific. God might boost into our ruler, having greater potential than the president of the U. S. and the different international chief, with direct obedience from each man or woman. regrettably, the tip effect may be drones. The bible does talk of beings in this quandary: angels. compelled to do sturdy, and not something yet, for eternity. the alternative is being forged out continuously, like devil. Angels supposedly long for human freedom. the liberty of decision. authentic freedom of decision, notwithstanding, can basically be granted to those too harmless to be attentive to the entire fact. That know-how might, logically, do away with all our freedom. we are, for all huge purposes, the two right here randomly or right here as an test/paintings to precise authentic freedom of decision.

Maybe you have not reached a point in your life where you need him. Maybe you never will. Truth to me is when you realize that your perspective belongs to you and it actually has no effect on reality. So in other words, it may not necessarily matter what we believe or what we do not believe for this world will go on when we die without us. I am not the one that would try to convince you, all I can tell you is that God is real and was there for me when I called out to him. Have you done the same things as I did in order to reach out to him? I do not know, but if you did then maybe you would know what I know.

1. You have free will, to believe in him and do his will
2. God put a veil over your eyes, so that you would not believe in him. God does not want everyone, he is going to squish billions of people when Jesus returns.
3. You are asking this question, so it is possible that God is there for you but he is waiting for you to do something or it is not your time right now. We have people in our church that were atheist and it took them until they were 50 years of age until God revealed his word to them.
DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)
