Paul preached that Jesus came as sacrifice for sins, but Jesus declared that HE is the one who came to preach the gospel. Luke 4:43. (That verse from Luke makes the Kingdom Gospel the real Gospel and also explains why Jesus was sent to us.)

And moreover, Jesus was quoting Hosea Chapter 6 when he said "I will have mercy, not sacrifice."

So with reference to why Jesus came, who is the best expert on Christianity.... is it the founder, Jesus Christ? Or is it the one who declared that he was an apostle in his letters, but in fact was never one of the 12 apostles.

I'm an atheist but I have nothing against those who have faith. Can some christian's explain that at the beginning there was (allegedly) Adam and Eve and that everyone since them have been borne from them and their children i.e. mass incest. As someone else pointed out we should all then suffer the physical problems that incest brings. Just wondering what people's views are on this.

If the Bible is God's word, how come there are so many scientific errors?

Read this: http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:D9koqH1EXfQJ:www.irf.net/quran_bible_in_the_light_of_science_I.doc+The+Quran+and+Bible+in+the+Light+of+Science&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2

Even a single mistake in the "God's book" makes it not his word, because simply if God knows everything, then he shouldn't lie or not know how the things he makes doesn't work. Right?

How can women have semen? The bible says women have semen? But how's that possible?

Spring scarce had greener fields to show than these
Of mid September; through the still warm noon
The rivulets ripple forth a gladder tune
Than ever in the summer; from the trees
Dusk-green, and murmuring inward melodies,
No leaf drops yet; only our evenings swoon
In pallid skies more suddenly, and the moon
Finds motionless white mists out on the leas.
-Edward Dowden, In September

Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away
-Earth, Wind and Fire, September (Lyrics by Maurice White, Charles Stemney and Verdine White)

No, not Paris Hilton. I'm referring to the Trojan Prince. The story goes something like this. Paris had a golden apple which three Greek goddess wanted (note that throughout history Apples + Women = Chaos). Athena promised him wisdom of the world, Hera (I think) promised him great wealth, and Aphrodite promised him the heart of the most beautiful woman alive.
Were you in his shoes, which goddess would you give that apple to and why?

How can these two co-exist.
If we have freewill, then prophecy can not be true.
If prophecy is true, then we do not have freewill.

If freewill exists, then nothing is set in stone. We can change situations before they happen, our responses and actions are not predetermined. Which means that prophecy is inaccurate at best.

If prophecy is true, then we have no freewill. Our futures are predetermined and no matter what we do, we can not change it.

Whats your opinion?

Sodomy is equal to divorce since Christians say all sins are equal.

Divorce is only allowed if infidelity was committed by one partner.

The New Testament says If a person divorces(without cause) and then remarries they will be committing adultery with their spouse for the rest of their lives.

So why isnt there an equal opposition to divorce as their is to gay marriage ?

This question has my brain melted! So I hope I'm phrasing it correctly , and you all get what I'm on about...I'm Irish, was baptised and became athiest at the age of 16, I'm now 26 and am still very happy in my beliefs....my family is Catholic and go to mass and all that and deceased relatives are all buried in our parish graveyard...So my problem is, as I have started my own family now, I am raising my daughter to be educated in all areas of life and to make her own decision on religion when she wants to, but if she is athiest too and so is my partner then why is a church cemetry the only place we can be buried?

Would we have to get a funeral mass and all that too? I just dont get it...maybe its just Ireland still being backwards and other countries have the answer to this question!?

I want to be cremated but aparantly I still have to have an empty coffin to go in a plot of expensive land...

If so, then know that their claim is a boastful statement based on arrogance and the belief that faith alone will save them.

When they say they are guaranteed Paradise by faith then they have negated the value of the Mercy of God by not acknowledging that the final decision rests upon GOD and he will judge based on HIS criterion which may include the fruits of faith.

Therefore, there is no guarantee for Paradise based on anyones faith alone and nobody can be proud of their status based on faith.

If anyone tells you that if you bring faith into your life you will be guaranteed Paradise then know that they are boasting about something that is not in their control.

I get to see a lot of people who claim to be very religious, go to church every 2 days and never miss a sunday, but when they are out that church door they have no problem in insulting, harming people on purpose, gossiping, being mean. And I talk on the large scale. Did religion become just something about some rituals to perform and criticize those who don't? Is this some acting thing? Cause that's what I get to see in so many people. Do you really think you show your love to god just by going to church on sundays and then you are free to do whatever you want?

What do you guys think?

In order to believe this text that you so often refer to and base your life on, you must have some kind of resolution to the many, many contradictions. I don't know all, but here are a few examples:

"The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father..." -- Ezekiel 18:20
"I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation..." -- Exodus 20:5

"Honor thy father and thy mother..."-- Exodus 20:12
"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. " -- Luke 14:26

Exodus 20:13 "Thou shalt not kill."
Exodus 32:27 "Thus sayeth the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, . . . and slay every man his brother, . ."

Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith . . . not of works."
James 2:24 "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

When I read Old Testament, I feel God is the root cause of all sins....He couldn't overpower Satan who was/is suceeding in all what he wanted against God's purpose creating Man and Woman. You all know about Adam/Eve story.
God made Abram to sleep with his wife Sarai's maid Hager who gave birth a son. Lord named her son Ishmael and said "he will be donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him,....Genesis 16:12. Yes thats how Muslims came to world and become terrorist. I can quote a lot like this...like route cause of Idol worship etc.
He allowed lot of people to break The Ten Commandments which cleary shows that Satan had more power than God.
Jesus Christ supposed to be His only begotten Son tried His best to preach the people, but He was crucified which God couldn't stop. After Christ's crucification more sinners, terrorists and Idol worshippers have grown..
What do you say about this?
