I'm an atheist but I have nothing against those who have faith. Can some christian's explain that at the beginning there was (allegedly) Adam and Eve and that everyone since them have been borne from them and their children i.e. mass incest. As someone else pointed out we should all then suffer the physical problems that incest brings. Just wondering what people's views are on this.

Funny you should ask that. My partner and I had the same discussion not too long ago. From what I have read in the Bible, yes, I do believe we are all born from incest. Unless someone can come up with concrete evidence that we were not, I'm going to continue to believe that.

The God gave Adam and Eve law of marriages between their children as follows:

Eve delivered twins at every birth (A boy and a girl)

These twins were real brother and sister. They could not marry each other.

However, they could marry with the other set of twins.

There were no other humans to marry. So God must have taken measures that they don't get any diseases. Remember how healthy they were and lived more than 1000 years.

When population grew then God gave law to later Prophets like Noah etc. that sons and daughters of one brother or sister can marry with the sons and daughters of his brother or sister (which means cousins). They also didn't have diseases you are concerned today. Those days marriages within close relatives was necessary to have bond with the families to survive. Because tribe did fight between each other. They needed unity in each clan to survive. Fittest only survived in tribal battles.

Hi everyone

Following book is very good on the subject.

"The X-Rated Bible - Updated ""Born Again"" Edition"
$14.95

"Incest, rape, adultery, exhibitionism, prostitution, homosexuality, abortion, mate swapping, bestiality -- it's all there in the book held sacred by three of the world's major religions. Originally published to reveal the hypocrisy of fundamentalists' attempts to censor and suppress the kind of material found throughout their own scriptures, The X-Rated Bible quickly became the American Atheist Press's most notorious and best-selling book. It garnered media attention due to its title, subject matter (with chapters like ""Lot Knocks Up Both His Daughters,"" and ""Noah Gets Drunk and Exposes Himself""), and association with publisher Madalyn Murray O'Hair, famous atheist and publicity hound.
Paperback, 245 pages.

According to the Bible, people already existed before/alongside Adam and Eve, is mentioned before Adam in Genesis.
It amuses me that Adam got Eve because he was lonely....no mention of Eve being in need....ain't that the way now!

No no..... God only mad it a bad thing after a little while, so things could get going ok. Then he said it was bad, and made mutated kids from Incest after that point.......

Well that's the work-around used by Creationists. hahaha

Everybody is very distantly related at some point, so we are all incestuous
