I get to see a lot of people who claim to be very religious, go to church every 2 days and never miss a sunday, but when they are out that church door they have no problem in insulting, harming people on purpose, gossiping, being mean. And I talk on the large scale. Did religion become just something about some rituals to perform and criticize those who don't? Is this some acting thing? Cause that's what I get to see in so many people. Do you really think you show your love to god just by going to church on sundays and then you are free to do whatever you want?

What do you guys think?

You are talking about some of the reasons I stopped going to church at the age of 13.

Religion is many things to many people. There are the hypocrites, as you point out. But the True Believers can be even more scary. Take, for example, the movie "Jesus Camp." That's a documentary, not fiction. For one week these innocent little kids are exposed to total immersion brainwashing. And they are being trained to be "Christian Soldiers." As a matter of fact, fundamentalism is very big in the U.S. Military services.

As to what it is to Muslims, the movie "Obsession" is the one that best illustrates this. The techniques used to brainwash their kids are compared to the techniques of the Nazis. One of the speakers is an elderly German who was involved in Hitler Youth when he was young. He explained the similarities

Now go back to "Jesus Camp" and compare the Nazi-inspired Muslim training with the fundie training.

Are you scared yet? I am!!!

Just empty rituals attached to meaningless teachings.
The rest of the world has entered the 21ST century however religions are still in the Dark Ages only now they use political power to eliminate those who oppose them instead of good old inquisition techniques. Religious people are the living proof of the continuing deterioration of ethics.
They say they love god but hate the guts of their fellow human beings, which makes one wonder what these religious teachings are all about doesn’t it?

In any church, you will find about 25% of the members will actually pray and read the Bible. The rest are there for various other reasons, mostly not connected with finding God.

The churches are full of hypocrites but perhaps I could give the analogy that hospitals (places of healing) are full of sick people.

Oh, and the guy above me says, "trust me, if everything was fine, no one would bother going to a Church, mosque or a temple. " The problem is that almost everyone is desperately seeking a purpose and meaning to life and there is none without God.

You're right..... Ben Franklin said something about this.... Hang on let me find the quote.

… The Worship of God is a Duty, the hearing and reading of Sermons may be useful; but if Men rest in Hearing and Praying, as too many do, it is as if a Tree should value itself on being water’d and putting forth Leaves, tho’ it never produced any Fruit.

Franklin to Joseph Huey in a letter dated June 6, 1753:

trust me, if everything was fine, no one would bother going to a Church, mosque or a temple.

Also another fact is that is is passed on to us from the previous generations - seldom people change, and even if so, it takes time.

The Bible is more about History of the people who wrote
it and their perception of RIGHT -N- WRONG. For those whom
follow the text all ready know that the word of GOD has been
TAINTED By man in his adding to or leaving out his word.
It is also A good guide for Moral Values. It is lacking the Spiritual guidance to make the connection with our higher power.

Islam let the believers do the way Islam teach us..and Islam has 5 time a day prayer as a reminder for the believers..religion and life can't never be divide in two path..morality,rituals,laws,and the way to be a human being...that have brain to think (remember and forget).

For most of the people who claim to be religious it is all about rituals. I do not claim to be religious; I really dot even like to say that I am a Christian, because many people who say they are Christians really are not. I am a follower of Jesus Christ †
