If the U.S. becomes a Theocratic nation like some of you want...will you still have physical punishment? From the answers that I have seen, whenever you do something really bad, it is the Devil doing it through you...so does that mean when someone breaks the law, they will not be punished? Since, according to the above line of thinking, it was not you who did the crime, but Satan? And IF you have physical punishment, and if it WAS Satan who "guided" or "posessed" you to do it, where would be the fairness to said person who did the crime, when it really was not him who did it? Just wondering, and OH is this going to be fun....^_^

For all those who say God and Jesus loves me, I know, he touched me and told me not to tell -_- I say that some, I repeat, SOME Christians want a Theocratic nation, not ALL....also, I actually DO predict some sort of angry answers...I get them a lot when I get under their skin...it's fun to watch 'em squirm...heh heh heh...anyway, please, I base what I ask on the experiences that I have and from what people say to me, that is all, not grouping (since I said SOME and not ALL) or trying to bash, if you think that, I'm terribly sorry.

cd guy- Um...I'm not a troll, because I was just making a query on what some Christians think, hence on why I say SOME and not ALL Christians...please read the whole thing, and all words, before you make an inference such as that...and I'm not anti-Christian, just anti-religious, for various reasons, but I'm not preaching hate, just asking a question...

You know full well that it is Christians who assure that we have such a wonderful penal system to begin. They would not rest unless they saw every single petty criminal crammed behind bars for their sins. Judgment is fun!

Lol I agree with the girl below me. A lot of people that are not for Christianity seem to be only sparking angry answers. It's actually pretty funny how insecure people are. People are not the problem. ALL people are not the problem. The enemy is the problem. But people just want to point fingers and be angry at other people. Law is law. People who need to be punished will be punished. People are responsible for their actions just as well. There are many Christians who are very good people because they understand Satan works through people, but just as well, people let him. Their minds are filled with jealousy, hatred and and division and they don't discipline themselves. But that is their own fault for not doing it when they know they can. Why? They're lazy, and being angry and creating division in the world is easier than trying not to I guess. I don't want a Theocratic nation, for the record.

Satan's tempts eveyrone u can choose to listen to him or not God gave us a way to refute Satan by giving us the Holy Spirit if you except Christ then you have all power over Satan if you deny Christ then there are no guarantees u will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil it is the choice in every human being between darkness and light . You do the crime it was your choice u must accept the natural consequences for sin. So yes the person is punished for the decision they made .

This reasoning was never used in the Old Testament, and actually this thinking is rather naive. If the devil whispers in your soul to do something evil, and you do it, who is to blame? Actually both. Much like the godfathers that commission a hit on another individual, the one that commissions is just as guilty as the hit man that is hired.
However, its a rather thin "what if" because our Republic will never go to a Theocracy anyway. Even the children of Israel did not want one--which is why they asked for a king.

Actually, this attitude of blaming others for their own sin is not new. The Jews did it as well, only they did not blame the devil, they blamed their fathers. God got sick of this scapegoating and declared...

"What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying,
'The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
And the children’s teeth are set on edge?'

“As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel."

In other words, stop blaming your fathers for what YOU are guilty for.

True Christianity is based on the belief in one God. This God will punish those who do crimes which are against his rules. "Ten Commandments" Those Christians that support any punishment against anyone are contradicting themselves in my opinion. It is their god who supposedly is the punisher. The ultimate hypocrites are those Christians that support war. which is murder. This does not just concern Christians but many religious fanatics. I used to be part of Christianity but no longer am because the murderers of the worlds use this religion to act as god, The punishers. My final thought regards faith in a higher being in general. Just because man destroys religion by making it benefit their own agenda, does not mean that higher power does not exist. I have seen evidence of a being watching over us and believe me, if I had that footage, I would show the world. This was a great question. Thanks for asking it.

I don't think you have to worry about a Theocratic nation my dear, but we do pray for our leaders, and the bible says to "obey the laws of the land" because the "governing authorities" do not "bear the sword for nothing". In Proverbs it says "if the punishment is not quickly carried out, the people plot rebellion". If all the Christians are voting as they should be and voting righteously in their decisions, there will be less problems in our government. PS I do not have a "devil made me do it" mentality. The bible says when evil desire is conceived it gives birth to sin, and sin when it is full grown, gives birth to death.

When someone sins, it is because they wanted to sin--they chose to sin. The devil can tempt, entice, and influence, but ultimately, we are responsible for our actions. The Bible makes this clear: "Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death" (James 1:14-15)
We don't always know when the devil is directly tempting us, and when he is only working in the background. In reality, however, it doesn't make any difference, because the result is the same: We are being tempted to turn our backs on God and do wrong.

Ultimately, of course, the devil is the source of all temptation (which is why the Bible calls him "The tempter"—Matthew 4:3). At the same time, he is able to succeed only because we let him succeed—and we let him succeed because of our own inner weaknesses. The Bible says, "each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed" (James 1:14).

This is one reason why we need Christ. Only He can forgive us when we sin, and only He can give us the strength by His Holy Spirit to resist temptation. We don't have the strength in ourselves to live the way we should, and when we try to fight the devil on our own, we will fail. But Christ is stronger than Satan, and the Bible reminds us that "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work" (1 John 3:8).

I have a friend who says, "When the devil comes knocking, I just send Jesus to the door." Does Jesus live in your heart? Make sure of your commitment to Him, and then when temptations come (and they will), ask Him to give you the strength to overcome them. The Bible promises, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Man, people need to stop ALWAYS blaming the devil for their wrong doings and start taking responsibility for their actions. Does the devil play a part in some of the bad things you do? Yes, that's obvious, but its certainly not ALL of the bad things.

Just telling the truth...

Coming from a Christian who DOES NOT want to see the US become a theocracy ...

I don't believe that Christians would support this point, because God is all about holding us responsible for our actions and justice. Satan only has as much power as we give him; he can't force us to do anything, all he can do is offer an opposing idea and its our choice whether or not to follow along.

Jesus said, "You must be born again." Are you?

None of what you wrote really matters, only whether you are born again.

God loves you.

It's not my hell and it's not your hell either. Hell was created for the Devil and his demons, not for mankind, but the Devil is deceiving people into going there.

Why are you so afraid of being born again? That is such an irrational fear. What other good things are you scared of?
