The word shadow is in the Bible 77 times at least, Psalms 17:8, Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Psalms 23, 4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. I think mostly it just follows the sun down each day.

Yes, the Bible does mention shadow from time to time. The shadow of Paul.... is one example. People wanted to get in his shadow because they believed they could be healed.

Are they useful? Depends. For fun - hide-go-seek.... I've found a lot of people by their shadow. Ha. Criminals have been caught. Children play with their shadow.

Seriously, in the Bible, I don't know that it speaks to us about why we have a shadow - it's just physics.

shadow occurs 73 times in 71 verses of the Bible. Usually as a description of being trusting regardless of or because of something. Shadows are also great to make shadow animals and such.
may peace be with you

- cooling shade

- knowing when someone is sneaking up on you

- just cool looking

- lets you know what direction the light is coming from

- How us artists create a 3-d look in a 2-d medium

...just some ideas of the top of my head, but I have a feeling you're just being a little silly about asking whether they're mentioned by the Bible- am I correct in that assumption?

Keeping the sun off you. I have no clue if they are mentioned in the bible other than the shadow of the valley of death.
