Can't we just talk about Shinto, Voodoo or Scientology for a day?
Can't we chit-chat about things we are NOT investing huge portions of our life in.... that we all (99% of us) believe are silly and can laugh at together?

I mean... cripes... we all know well enough by now that the christians want to convince the atheists how in need of salvation they are.... and the atheists want to convince the christians how retarded they are.... and the muslims want to convince everyone that they're not really suicide-bombers...

We know already.
kthxbye.

Can you be a Christian and a feminist? NO. The Bible is clear on this.

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God." (I Corinthians 11:3)

"For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man." (I Corinthians 11:8-9)

Whenever I was in the french quarter there were always a bunch of bible thumping bigots running around yelling that everyone was going to hell, I wonder what happened to them. I'm pretty sure god was indiscriminate with the homes that he smashed. I was recently told god takes vengeance on those that mock him or work against him. Why does it seem he also takes vengeance on those that support him? It's almost as if random acts of nature are simply that, random.

Now bear with me.

Jesus Christ himself said that we would be persecuted for our faith. We are here to preach the truth. Those who are against the truth (atheists) would abhor it, and therefore hate the messanger also.

It's obvious that the atheists don't like hearing about God, but God is the truth. So a true Christian preaches the truth no matter what, even if it's unpopular.

Did they have any other "saviors" or "sons of God"? Did they have a place of eternal damnation in the underworld in their religions? Did they have any gods that impregnated humans to produce saviors of mankind? Did they have blood baptisms that washed away sin?

What about Jews? What did they believe before coming into contact with Greeks and Romans? Did they have any "savior sons of God"? Did they have a place of eternal damnation in the underworld? Did they have any gods that impregnated humans to produce saviors of mankind? Did they have blood baptisms that washed away sin?

For those that say "the devil imitated the prophecies," why didn't he do that with Jews? If he knew the prophecies, then he knew that the Messiah was supposed to be a Jew, not a Greek or Roman or Egyptian, but a Jew. Why waste his efforts with people that couldn't possibly fit the prophecies? Why wouldn't he fake the prophecies the way they were written?

Why circumcise, don't you know your taking your son's choice away from him. If he doesn't like his penis he can have it done later.

Myths and reason's not to:
A. It's a jewish tradition, if your going to uphold this severe/permanent one why not go to synagogue and spin a dradel and not eat pork.

B. Cleanliness! only in the poorest of third world countries where water isn't readily available is cleanliness an issue.

C. Sexual performance/pleasure: Doctors and scientist have found that circumcising permanently scars the most sensitive parts of the penis that makes sex not enjoyable for them because they don't know any different, but less enjoyable compared to an uncircumcised male. and the scaring from circumcision are an additive cause to ED( erectile dysfunction)(You won't get it up from de-sensitivity.)

So think about the choice you are making not for you but your son's
your making his choice for him and maybe you don't care and want to make his choices for him his whole life.

...than defend herself and risk killing that person. She is a christian, and she says that if someone is stabbing her, and there is a chance for her to grab another knife and retaliate, she wouldn't do it for fear of committing murder and going to hell. She would lie there and let him kill her.

Is she crazy or what?

OK. We just heard from Lilmissykato that Roman Catholics don't worship Mary or the saints, they just the saints and Mary to pray for them. So, would anyone like to show what scriptures are used to support the idea that people who have died can pray for you and specifically that Mary can pray for you?

I've never seen an atheist be nice to a Christian on this website.

You claim all Christians here are stupid. But not every Christian is the same. Yet you are mean to all of us.

If you read – it is mentioned in the Bible, in 2nd Samuel Chapter No 24, Verse No 9, that… ‘The people that were involved in the battlefield. It gives a list of these people, in 2nd Samuel, Chapter 24,
Verse No. 9, and it says that… ‘People that took part 800 thousand of the men of Israel,
took part - and 500 thousand of the men of Judah same.’ If you see other places, 1st
Chronicle, Chapter 21, Verse No. 5, it says that… ‘1 million - Hundred thousand people
took part in the battle field, from the men of Israel - and ten thousand four hundred and
sixty men took part of Judah.’ Was it 800 thousand people who took part from the men
of Israel, or was it 1 million - 100 thousand? Was it 5 lakh people of Judah that took
part or 10,460? A clear-cut contradiction.

then wouldn't he show them some proof of his existance, like making them speak in tongues, showing himself to them, or stop letting satan plant dinosaur bones to confuse them with science, instead of just letting the atheists burn in hell?

do you really think that's fair?

don't give me the free will line, because atheists are just not able to believe in god. there's no free will there. they would need to have proof of god's existance in order to be able to make a choice about believing in him.

Abbott (an ironic name as you'll see later) and Costello go into a diner but they have very little money to purchase food (perhaps enough for a cup of coffee). So, Costello asks Abbott if he can order anything he wants (free will), and Abbott says "sure". So Costello says to the waiter, "I'll have a steak sandwich". Immediatelly Abbott pulls Costello aside and slaps him around for ordering something they can't afford. "Why did you do that? You said I can order anything I want...."

Do you see a comparison to how God gives man free will, but then turns around and punishes him if he makes the "wrong" choice?

The Hypostatic Union is the teaching that the Word of God became flesh and we call Him Jesus. Therefore, Jesus is God in human flesh. He is not half God and half man. He is fully divine and fully man. That is, Jesus has two distinct natures: divine and human. As the SCripture says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...14and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us..." (John 1:1,14). This means that in the divine word became flesh in the single person of Jesus who is, then, both human and divine in nature. The divine nature was not changed. It was not altered in this union. Rather, the divine holy nature of the Word remains as it is.

Furthermore, Jesus is not merely a man who "had God within Him" nor is he a man who "manifested the God principle." He is the second person of the Trinity. "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word," (Heb. 1:3, NIV). Jesus' two natures are not "mixed together," nor are they combined into a new God-man nature. They are separate yet act as a unit in the one person of Jesus. This is called the Hypostatic Union.

Also, in the incarnation, Jesus was made for a while lower than the angels (Heb. 2:9) and under the law (Gal. 4:4). This means that Jesus cooperated with the limitations of being a man (Phil. 2:5-8). In other words, He really was a man and as a man exhibited the proper restrictions of His humanity such as growing taller, eating, growing in wisdom, etc., which would be expected of a real human being.

I read daily on Q/A where non-believes attempt to tie some atrocity that some lunatic has committed, to Christianity. Now I ask you this: To be a Buddhist one imitates the teachings and life of Buddha. To be a Muslim, one follows the teachings of Mohammed. To be a Christian, one follows the teachings of Christ. Now considering so many who are non-believers are great at picking out obscure bits of text, which of you can do this? Who among you is able by scripture, to quote 1 verse, just one little verse where Christ taught, encouraged or advocated harming ANYONE, weither it be an enemy, your best friend, your ex wife who ever. Can you show just one verse where Jesus stated any response other than to forgive, to love, to help, to care, to fix, to heal? If you can not, then how can you claim that someone doing something completely opposite of what Christ taught, can still be considered a follower of Christ, a Christian? Please don’t waist our time by saying, “they did it in the name of Christianity” that don’t fly, If I were to go and shoot the president of another country and then claim “ I did this in the name of America” no one would buy that either. Also any where Christ taught that if YOU the individual sins it would be better for you to cut off your OWN hand, or your own Eye that is speaking to the individual not telling them to do that to someone else.

According to God's word at Isaiah 44:6, there is no God besides the Lord of hosts. According to God's word at 2 Corinthians, the god of this world blinds the minds of unbelievers. How are we to reconcile these two scriptures in God's word? Does he contradict himself? Are there other gods or is there only one?

Isaiah 44:6: Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. (King James Version)

2 Corinthians 4:4: But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (King James Version)

Many of my friends and family have read the Bible and have become Christians because they believe the Bible is true. When I read the Bible I simply couldn't accept that it was true (I don't know why). Does this mean I am too evil to be a Christian? Am I automatically going to hell because my brain is stupid and wont believe the Bible is true?
