Can't we just talk about Shinto, Voodoo or Scientology for a day?
Can't we chit-chat about things we are NOT investing huge portions of our life in.... that we all (99% of us) believe are silly and can laugh at together?
I mean... cripes... we all know well enough by now that the christians want to convince the atheists how in need of salvation they are.... and the atheists want to convince the christians how retarded they are.... and the muslims want to convince everyone that they're not really suicide-bombers...
We know already.
kthxbye.
WTB New Content!
Maybe I should set up an R&S Sock-Puppet Theatre... I could account for the majority of people here easily with just... maybe 5 sock-puppets?
Anything to get away from the ridiculous monotony...
If I continue with the drinking game any longer I'm going to drink myself comatose through self-suggestion alone.

John D :~ All you're doing is p!ssing the atheists off. They've heard it all before and telling them again is only going to lead to them defying you further.
Take a hint.
Shut up. You get much better results that way.

Toogethr :~ Ooooh! Religions wrecking society! ... And just what do little old you plan to do about it?
Hint : You are one person and cannot do squat. Leave nature to do what nature does best: kill things.

Miss "loveChrist" :~ I stay because I'm a psychological masochist. I stay because the sheer, rampant, absurd futility of this place just serves to credit my Nihilism. In other words... same reason as everyone else here (affirmation for one's own beliefs) but with much less effort.

Well, this is after all the Religion and Spirituality site. What else did you expect people to discuss here?

I see your point. People tend to ask the same tired questions and get the same tired answers. We need to think up original questions that actually matter, though; not just silliness. Silliness certainly has a place, but we need the real questions, too.
I've got to go to the doctor's soon. I'll try to think up some really good questions by the time I get back. Contemplating my own mortality should do that for me.

We humans like to be right. We like to stand in opposition to other humans and crush them with our superior intelligence and stunning wit.
We take absolute stands about things that cannot be proven or supported by evidence and shake our metaphorical fists and other people who have taken similar absolute positions
Our beliefs are often the ground of our beings, and since they are not based on observable fact, tend to be rather fragile, prompting us to defend them vehemently.
The result is something like "The View," the television program upon which everyone talks at once and no one listens.

Yes, it gets old pretty quick.
I often browse the section to see if anyone asks a legitimate question. When one happens by, I see if I'm studied up enough to be able to give a real answer. Those times are rare, though.

If we gave you two aspirins, would you go away?
I mean, after reading several of your questions I can only come to the conclusion that the only time you make sense is when you're not here.
By all means, keep drinking.

I totally agree with you.
Well, people will be people. You can't expect them to just give up defending their beliefs from the other camp. It's an endless war of ideologies.

LOL.
So then move to a different category.
Although,
You'll find the responses are just as over-asked and responses are just as condemning.

Seems to me that you're able to ask whatever you want. If your question is compelling, then a trend might start. If not, it probably won't.
Then again, there's always the Yak (pbut).

First, you're mistaken. Approx. 91% of Americans believe in God. So you would be among the minority. (I'll link the survey as soon as I locate it.)
Secondly, Christians are here to answer people's questions about God, Jesus, and the Bible. And to defend God/Jesus from those who choose to hate or mock him. If you don't like it here, you are free to go to another forum. No one is forcing you to stay here and be bored, unhappy, miserable, or whatever emotion it is you're feeling.
