I understand that people have cherished beleifs, and since there is so much blood on the hands of the world's religions, why should I have to respect the ignorant superstitions which underpin theism?

If you fell from a cliff and was able to hang on a branch, what would you have done? If there's no one around, no living soul is present at that very moment... Then God talks to you and tells you to let go and you shall be saved, He even asks fireflies to form a "Let Go" so you'd know its true... Would you have let go? And if you choose to let go, a second before you do, a helicopter approaches with all your loved ones saying that you shouldn't.. Would you still do?

I was initially a Catholic but was baptised a Christian a few weeks ago. The problem is I find that I still have a guilty conscience and feel lousy and worthless all the time.
I don't understand God's love and felt as though I was forced into Christianity by fear of Hell fire. But isn't Christianity about Christ setting the captives free and love and grace? Why do I have all these negative feelings?

PS: I'm gay and I admire the physiques of athletic, lean but muscular guys. I have prayed so long for this to go away but nothing I did seems to work in dealing with my gay desires. I didn't ask God to become gay!

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods. "What
majestic trees! What
powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he said to
himself.

As he was walking alongside the river he heard a
rustling in the bushes
behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7 foot grizzly
charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over
his shoulder and saw
that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over
his shoulder again, and
the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the
ground. He rolled over
to pick himself up but saw the bear right on top of
him, reaching for him
with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike
him.

At that instant the Atheist cried out: "Oh my God!"
Time stopped. The bear
froze. The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out
of the sky: "You deny
my existence for all of these years, teach others I
don't exist, and even
credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me
to help you out of
this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light, "It would
be hypocritical of me
to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now,
but perhaps could you
make the BEAR a Christian?"

"Very well," said the voice. The light went out. The
sounds of the forest
resumed. And then the bear dropped his right paw,
brought both paws
together, bowed his head and spoke:

"Lord, bless this food, which I am about to receive
from thy bounty through
Christ our Lord, Amen."

According to religuen , bonus of act will indicate which side we'll go ,and perhaps if some one must go to heaven but he want to choose the hell ,does he have this option ?or before he born was writen in book of life where he must to go .If so, what is this all about ? and what these religuse people fight about .may be there's not enough space for all .

I have constantly thought about what happens after death and I have come to the conclusion that whatever we believe will happen. For instance if you are a Christian you will either go to heaven or hell. If you believe in reincarnation you will be reincarnated. If you believe that when you die your soul dies, then that is so.

Also I believe that lets say you were raised a Christian but later converted to Paganism but always question the choice and believe in Christian teachings over Pagan teachings that you will face the Christian after life.

This makes more sense to me since the soul is all that remains on a subconscious level you choose what happens to it.

Please don't turn this question into an argument - I don't want to hear arguments about why your religion is correct and everyone elses is wrong. I just want to know if this concept could be a feasible one.

Thanks.

I want to know why you believe in what you believe in... whether you are christian, budist, atheist, whatever. I'm curios, for my own information and research. And for what ever reason you have, please provide details, such as personal experiences. Thank you in advance for answering!

From Letters to a Christian Nation:

“The president of the United States has claimed, on more than one occasion, to be in dialogue with God. If he said that he was talking to God through his hairdryer, this would precipitate a national emergency. I fail to see how the addition of a hairdryer makes the claim more ridiculous or offensive.”

1. What do people here think of people who claim God speaks to them?

2. Would your opinion change dramatically if I said God spoke to me through a toy telephone?

You can look these up if you want
1. Mark 16:5 states that " As they entered the tomb they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.
Mark 16:8 " So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said NOTHING to anyone for they were afraid.
Then In Mark 16:9 it indicates that they only told them after Jesus appeared to mary first.

2. Luke 24:4 While they were perplexed about this, suddenly 2 men in dazzling clothes stood beside them.
Luke 24:8-9 " Then they remembered his words and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest.

How come both the stories don't match? I know that they are slight differences but when it comes to the resurrection story. The difference between 1 person in the tomb and 2 can be huge!
