So Why out of the 30 odd original Gospels did the Holy Roman Church only include the 4 Gospels Mathew, Mark, Luke & John in the official version ? 26 others declared Heritical ? including that of Judas. Then these 4 translated through various languages and doctored over the ages to suit political ends. One of the latest theories I have heard is that Judas was a hero rather than a traitor and was castigated by an early bishop for political expediency. It took Christians over a hundred years to write down anything that Jesus said or did so no wonder it is like a game of "Whispers" when it comes down to the veracity of the Bible.
Beats me how people can take it so literally !
One or two nice ideas on living a good life, but thats it as far as I am concerned.

Anyway, I digress so back to the question. What about the Gnostic Gospels? Could it be they contained something to hide?

The religious claim that their gods love them, and put great emphasis on this love. But do we need to be loved? Isn't love just an animal survival instinct? How much more satisfying is it to be liked by others rather than instinctly loved?

As a mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend, I would prefer to be liked than loved.

How many of the religious believe that their god likes them?

Abortion, Death Penalty, and Homosexuality.

Many of our faiths frown down upon some of these issues. So basically, what I'm trying to ask is if your faith has a big part in your views on these issues? Why/Why not? OR do your morals come into play regardless of religion?

What causes a choice? What is a choice based on? Are choices ever random? Are choices made by the brain only? Are you the brain? Do you control the brain? How does a brain control itself? Are you the soul? How does the soul make its decisions? Are they random? Are choices uncaused? What are they based on then? Are they really uncaused then? When does a human get free will? When it is a fetus? When it is a baby? When it becomes a young child? How much free will does a human get? Is it random? Are there probabilities for which choice is made? Are some people more likely to do one thing and not another? Do we intervene the natural world and make decisions? What are those decisions based on? What causes them? How do we intervene? How does free will work?!!?!?!?!!?!?!?

If God existed I can tell you the boys out there want ever-rejuvinating virgin women and no baggers. A man wants a tight honey not a railway tunnel and God knows that dam well! so which is it... god doesn't exist or we are all living in hell already

How do you personally handle it when this happens?
Have you built up a resistance to it and can you just brush it off now?
Have any advice for someone who has a hard time with it?

Personally i have been ridiculed and verbally abused for just about everything you can think of by people who don't know the slightest thing about me or what I believe, and I'm sure many people have had similar experiences. I have built up a resistance but some things still get to me and i do have trouble dealing with it.

No matter what you believe, someone somewhere will always have something bad to say about it.

I knew there were a lot. But, when I'm on this site it's amazing how many there are here. Growing up it seemed like most people were Sunday Christians. Not that devout. If they were religious at all.

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

I have only been a Catholic for only 2 years and I was told by a friend to come to YA and I will meet a lot of people who share the same thing, God.

But all I have found is hatred towards the Catholic Church and the Catholic people, they call us dreadful names and I have received some really nasty emails running my faith down

Please tell me how do you handle this, any tips as it is really upsetting me, I love being a Catholic and proud of my Faith and love the Mass and I love coming here

What can you offer?
