Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

You are correct , that is what it says.

However , it does not mean in any way that the woman is a lower class person , for example like a slave not talking.

It means simply that it is the mans position to take the lead in many things and just as a ship does not have two captains only one can do the direction.

But again , just like a ship has a first mate this person is extremely valuable to the captain , and no large ship would fare well if the mate isn't there.

While there are heavy responsibilities placed on the man , the woman likewise has a very valued and loved position in a Christian family.

Christian men wisely listen to the good advice from their wives.

you seem to know how women should behave - best you check how the men are supposed to behave as well !!

in ancient times the women were also leaders in the faith but the bible has been distorted so much by the church it can no longer be relied upon.

seems to me that you're picking and choosing the bits that suit you - if christian men behaved in a truly christian way then christian women would do the same.

my hubby would never ask a question like this - he shows love and respect for me and my opinions and i do the same - we have been together for 15 years and we have never even raised our voices to each other let alone had a row.

maybe that's because we are both atheists

the 1st 2 or 3 verser that u seek advice from are no longer God speaking, those are ordanices that Paul put in place to the church or Corinth by using attractiveness that the temple had for celebrations at the same time with prostitutes, abdomen dancers and such. Paul seen that the female's openion ought to acquire or reported along with her husband at residing house particularly contained in the temple the place women human beings have been valued so little. As u examine (and learn the bible and the historic past or the time) u will locate that God valued women human beings to the utmost degree and used them mightly in His works. My buddy, wheather u have faith the interest or no longer it particularly is needed have your info regarding your comments. by the way, he wrote that letter to Timothy to place across to the church and due to this that is carried on contained in the e book of Timothy.

Do you follow the bible's instruction properly? Paul wrote the book of Timothy and Timothy was taught about the scriptures by his mother and grandmother.

Paul himself acknowledges that women publicly prayed and prophesied. Paul didn't want the Ephesian women to teach because they didn't yet have enough knowledge or experiance. Paul was telling Timothy not to put anyone (in this case women) into a position of leadership who was not yet mature in faith.

But Dr Peas, I gave you this answer a few days ago lol,

why should Christian women be different to Christian men, none of them actually follow the bible, and pray in private... as Jesus instructed, they choose to follow some parts of the bible, and ignore others, they cherry pick, and ram suitable quotes down our throats for calling them hypocrites...

however, the bible is so contradictory, that you could find a quote to back up any argument within it.

The ancient people who wrote the bible are hiding the fact that God was originally a woman until religion gave God a gender change..

Did you know that it says in the bible that if a man should lose his penis (on purpose, or by accident) that he is no longer worthy to attain Heaven?

Did you know that it says in the bible that if a person is deformed in any way (even though not their fault) that they, and 10 generations of their offspring, are not worthy to enter Heaven?

Did you know that it says in the bible that if your child should offend you that is is perfectly okay to kill them?

I can go on for hours with similar references. No, I will not provide the verses ... you can look them up yourself.

The "Good Book" sounds pretty awful when looked at this way, now doesn't it?

Did you notice the unusual phrasing of that statement.

The way paul expresses himself there using the first person and he usually doesnt suggests he's offering a personal opinion and that other churches allowed women to preach and teach?

Also he was talking about people gossiping during church services he never said they could not teach at all!

Do you read Greek?

Because hopefully Christian women have more sense.

Because there are many Christian women who understand that they are the teachers of the next generation, even when their children are adults
