Sal D: I don't know about that, I think the cow is probably well and truly dead before it changes into a hamburger myself.

Maybe because so many humans believe we are here for a higher purpose? Maybe because we are afraid to die, and want to believe that there is something after death. Or maybe because humans experience regret, and want to think that there's something better waiting for us. I mean, the notion of heaven and hell appeals to our human nature; we want our hard work here to pay off, and want to see bad people suffer.
"Mundus vult decipi; the world wants to be deceived". Having said this, I do have respect for what people choose to believe, but I figure you're not truly going to know until it happens to you. I find the Buddhist notion of reincarnation really interesting; if you look at it that way, dogs, cows, and maybe germs are the cycling souls of people paying karma for previous lives.

Because we have to make decisions. Germs cows and dogs don't. life after death has always been a reward /punishment. Non of those things sin / don't have the ability to sin so they just live and die.

Religion is a humanistic belief to me. Humans are the center of the universe. God is modeled after humans.
