I must say that Y!A is unique ... and R&S is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. I do feel badly for those who innocently post, thinking that they'll get friendly and informative answers to a legitimate question about a particular faith, and instead they get hatefulness, cynicism and ugliness from the predatory types who get their kicks in this way. R&S is a magnet for loonies of all stripes, religious or otherwise. There are some good dialogues once in a while, and informative posts that stand out from the crap, but because of the format here one must take the bad with the good.
As for how I handle it ... check your e-mail, dear. Blessings to you.

I have been a Catholic all my life, and you're right there is a lot of negative thoughts on being a catholic on answers. But then their are a lot of negative thoughts here about every religion and negative thoughts on being an atheist and negative thoughts about people who believe in nothing.
I don't take it personal, I need neither to defend nor comment, nor react to any of it. I am comfortable in my beliefs and no one needs to agree with me. I just answer questions for fun, it's not like answers is a forum that is going to affect any great change in anyone one way or the
other.
Enjoy the good, ignore the bad and have fun, let others make judgments. Block your e-mail from hate junkies and
Internet bullies.
We are all different and always Will be, and that's a good thing, life would be so boring if we all thought alike.
Love and peace

The 12 Step program.
It may have to be implemented dear.
I don't know. I've been a Catholic like forever, plus the Holy Spirit so many gracious times in my life. (looking back sometimes, I didn't even know it was the Holy Spirit, just some strange imagination I had) (because I was so young) The feelings are very strong and run deep. There is a Rock, and I cling to it. My world has been razed to the ground 3 times, and the Holy Family came to the rescue each time. I read about Holy things going on in the world (like Fatima and Medjugore) and I say the Rosary as much as I can, and remember God in all things.
This place can be a little distracting. Don't worry about those guys who distress you about Priests.
Here, I'll give you something very precious.
*emails you*

Sorry i am not a catholic, but i had to answer.
There will always be people in this world who love to make other people feel bad just because they can, I am sorry that this has happened to you. Remember that it is those people who have the problem and no matter what they say to you, it is them who are in the wrong.
I know that it's not something that you wish to deal with but in the end, as long as you don't let it get to you, I'm sure it will only make you a stronger person and more able to deal with this sort of behaviour. Good luck.

I am Baptist but have much of a Catholic heart. I set up my account to NOT receive email because of all the mean people. I consider this site to be a mission ground for my belief in the one true God.
That's why I keep coming back despite the rude comments and thumbs down.

Fight back!
http://www.catholic.com/
left hand panel, is a good, scripture-based and well -reasoned discussion on what we believe, and how to answer the s**t being said about us.
They also quote the Early Fathers, and you will see that, as early as the 2nd-3rd century, scholars were already studying the issues being talked about today.
And NO, do not believe the IDIOTIC dates you see, like this or that doctric was 'invented' in 1453, or some such. They might have been written-down in 1453, but believed as early as the first century!
I studied the 'Catholic Answers' part, and it made me a better defender.
Good luck!

I'm sorry, I don't know what your friend was talking about because you are not gonna find much love here for your faith. Same goes for any religious person of whatever faith. It's not just the Catholics. I'm not Catholic but these are just my observations.

Let it roll off your back. There are all kind of haters on here. If you can correct a misperception, go ahead. But ignore the rest. Do not rise to the bait.
It's Yahoo! Answers, not Yahoo! Questions. So you don't have to take every question seriously. I've seen sincere questions on here that were so ignorant, I had no idea how to respond. So I let them go.
And there are good people on here too, not all the time and not always obvious. Be respectful and sincere, and grow a thick skin.

In all concerns, God the father is the suitable Authority. We have faith that God's be conscious is composed in the two the Written be conscious besides because of the fact the Sacred custom of the Church. That the Bible is the suitable be conscious in all concerns is itself un-Biblical. Paul writes that the Church is the pillar of reality, and Paul is going directly to exhort believers to stay steadfast contained in the traditions that have been taught to them by letter or by be conscious. John writes the Gospels do no longer contain all that Jesus taught and did. the 1st Gospel replaced into no longer written until a minimum of two a protracted time after the Resurrection. So, what did the Early Church do for those first 2 a protracted time? no longer something? await the Gospel to be written? No, the respond lies contained in the Oral custom. You communicate as though the Bible itself is God, which of direction that isn't any longer. The Pope has authority, given by Jesus, to tutor infallibly in concerns of religion and morals. The coaching Authority of the Church ought to in no way contradict the Bible because of the fact Sacred Tradtion and the Bible are mirror photos of another.

This section is not really the place to enrich ones religious faith. You are so right about your assessment about this being a bashing section. There are many good sights for Catholics. The one I use is the Catholic Answers forum. I also learned a lot from "imacatholic." Just click on to her/his name and you will get good information about our faith from his/her answers.
