Faith is believe without proof. If faith has validity why do we need proof in other walks of life, but not in religion?

How much can we trust faith? Not at all.

'Faith' (magical, wishful thinking) is a lame and pathetic substitute for 'evidence'.

Faith-based 'belief' (the internalized certainty that you are privy to the 'truth' pertaining to vital aspects of existence and reality) is a lame and pathetic substitute for 'knowledge'... in fact, it is the ILLUSION of knowledge.

Faith + belief ---> Self-delusion and willful ignorance.

'Belief' is an insidious mind-killer... it cuts one off from the open-minded and intellectually honest (willing to actively question and doubt one's own assumptions) consideration of alternative possibilities.

"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance... it is the illusion of knowledge." ~ Daniel Boorstin

Faith is just a poor excuse for evil acts. Throughout man's history, war and terror has been in the name of some god or other. Considering the Roman and Greek Gods, that died as the new Christian faith came along, supported many wars and much destruction, nothing has changed except that the West now only has one God instead of many. Wars are still happening in the name of God. George Bush publicly announced that invading Iraq was God's will and God "had spoken to him" and told him that he has to invade Iraq. Therefore, that makes George Bush the modern Moses or maybe even Jesus. Apart from that man being mad, he is a so called Christian that has justified his evil acts as being in the name of good. The US has killed more Iraqis than Saddam ever did. Therefore, if a person wants to live a good life, he / she must be a non-believer as believers support war, dishonesty, terror, murder, rape and torture, to name some of the acts done by both Christians and Muslims. Where is the so called "Peace" and "Forgiveness" etc. that both the Bible and the Koran preach? I could probably write a book, bigger than both the Bible and Koran put together, about the evilness of both faiths and the followers of those faiths. I mean, how many of you good Christians know about the butchery, rape etc, that occurred during the Crusades? How many good Christians know of the torture, rape and murder that priests committed during the Spanish Inquisition. Even in the UK, innocent women were raped, tortured and killed by priests as they were accused of being a witch. Today, the US Anglican Church is paying millions of US Dollars in compensation to those that had been raped and bu**ered by priests and Bishops, when they were only children. The Catholic Church has a nasty reputation around the rape of little girls and the bu**ery of young boys by their priests. For hundreds of years, nobody would speak out as the churches had too much power but today people are speaking out. Priests and Bishops are being prosecuted and being sent to prison. No wonder the Christian faith is dying fast. Churches have closed all over Europe as nobody is using them. The only trust I have in faith is that I trust that Christianity will cease to exist, Islam will follow and new religions will be born. With a bit of luck, the new religions will be peaceful and honest and will not murder, rape, torture, go to war etc. etc. in the name of the new religions. Thought for today! - if all Christians were rounded up and put into churches and the churches were burnt to the ground thus killing all the Christians and all Muslims were put in Mosques and those were burnt to the ground thus killing all Muslims, how many wars would we have now and how many within the next 50 years? That is proof that you can have peace without religion but to have religion is to have suffering.

Because we do get proof. The more faith you have that God will do things, the more things you see. Not that your faith makes them happen, but God reveals himself more when you do. have you ever looked for proof?? Or just assumed there wasn't any?

Faith is belief without proof, yes. Faith is fine. Religion, however, is faith without reason. Not fine.

there is room for faith. it is a necessary component of being human.

when i was with my ex (for 23 years) i had faith in her. i did not seek to prove that she loved me, i accepted it. the same can be said for my mother's love. I accept it on faith.

Now, for the hard part.

Faith (with a capital F) is rather a bad thing. Most religions use 'Faith' as a tool to keep their followers in line. "Believe in me, cause i aint gonna give you a choice" is their motto. I don't see the difference between a dictator saying, "Do it my way or i kill you." or the leader of a religion saying "Believe in me (and send me a check) or you rot in hell forever"

They are both gangsters.

Do you believe in history? Alexander the Great, Julius Ceasar, etc. If you did not meet each person yourself face to face, how can you know they existed? Proof only goes so far. There is much more faith in this world then you would realise.

Your definition of faith is unfortunate.

This is mine: Faith is an action, based upon belief, sustained by confidence.

Jesus said that for your faith you are made whole. The Bible says, " The Just shall live by faith."

And so, I can trust that God will make good on His promises, if I remain true in Faithing (trusting) Him.

So you can believe in anything else. But faith is how we make the connection to God and keep it. According to Him.

Faith is required to start. If a faith doesnot provide experience, there is something wrong with the path followed.

According to the Bible , the definition of faith is -¨Hebrews 11:1 'Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of things not yet beheld.'

Now faith is not expected to be 'blind faith'., that is , faith in something , without good reason.

So while having faith is good , and is in fact a requirement to serve God properly , it should be based on truths.

What truth's?

Truths according to what we have learn't from the Bible.
Biblical proof through prophesies that have come true give us the assurance that the things not yet occurred but promised , will likewise also come true.

Faith , must be based on Bible truth.
