Why is it that you think that protestants are protesting God? Please read the history books, read the reasons that people left the Catholic church or, more accurately, were excommunicated and pushed out of the Catholic church. Please don't keep yourself in the dark.

You are right.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard and/or read someone stating "my God" wouldn't do this or would do that. As if that person owns God and he conforms to their ideas, values and morals. I'm thinking WHAT???
God does not change with each person's idea of him.
When Martin Luther introduced the idea that each person could use personal interpretation as THE interpretation of scripture it caused chaos. Every person claims to know what is meant by certain scriptures.
Take for example the 10 commandments. We are accused, as Catholics, of breaking the commandment not to make graven images, and or worship false gods. This accusation comes from an invalid, personal interpretation of the scripture. As a Catholic, I certainly know who I worship...and it's God and no other.
I attended a Baptist school during my 10th grade year. The preacher there decided (on his own) that Christmas was no longer to be celebrated because it was not the true day of Christ's birth. He told us, that every time we knelt down to place a present under a Christmas tree we were worshiping the tree. I know for a fact I am not worshiping a tree at Christmas time, the same way I know I'm not worshiping idols.
My point is that everyone can have an idea of what is meant in the scripture. We are sinful, fallible beings...therefore our interpretations of scripture cannot be trusted. They may say, the Holy Spirit is guiding me...but we can all say that. Why would the Holy Spirit guide everyone so differently?
The fact of the matter is, Jesus set up one Church. He set up One authority and gave the Holy Spirit to that Church to guide her in matters of faith and morals.

Privatisation? I'm not really sure what you mean by that. Are you talking about denominations? And that by having different denomination is privatizing the church, I don't think that would be very accurate. Protestants see themselves as a part of the body of Christ, whether they're Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, or whatever. It's not as if each denomination believes they are the only group that gets to go to heaven. The core belief of any of those denominations is the same. Christ was the son of God and died for our transgressions. One word for you though in regards to privatization of the Church, "Endulgences"

Goog point: The emphasis on a "personal relationship" detracts from the fact that we are a Body, and we are resposible to a certain extent for each other. "I am my brothers keeper", as it were, and corporate worship is just as imporatant as personal prayer
To "mypublicident" : There you go - bring up the thousand year old crusades. What the heck has that got to do with the question? I guess if you can't come up with a good answer, just sling mud, right?

I'm not following your question, but Catholics worship Jesus too, right?
There are many folks who don't affiliate themselves with a particular 'religion', protestant, catholic, or otherwise who have faith in Christ.
Can you expound on your question/comment?
Do you know where you'll spend eternity?
Read Romans.

Wow, are the crusades about to happen again??? I wonder how many protestants were killed by catholics back then. Wiki shows millions...
So if the catholics are killing protestants and the fundi-muslims are killing everyone, does that mean that protestents will be the meek that inherit the Earth?

Oh, you're correct. We should DEFINATELY go back to the way the Roman Catholic "Church" ran things: all services in Latin (which no one understood); Bibles out of the hands of the "laity," since we're too ignorant to understand Scripture, anyway; a false priesthood between believers and God, even though Scripture tells us ALL believers are priests.
To the contrary, Protestantism did not "privatize" faith in Christ -- the Roman Catholic "Church" did!

there are no Protestants in the bible, nor catholics, nor a pope. These are man's inventions. Forget all that silly nonsense and look to Jesus, He's the cure for all that.
