The 2001 United Kingdom Census showed that 72% of the population of 59,000,000 classed themselves as Christian. However, The Church Society's own figures show that in 1968 the usual Sunday church attendance was 1,606,000 falling to 881,000 in 2005
http://www.churchsociety.org/issues_new/church/stats/iss_church_stats_attendance.asp
Office of National Stastics.

15% (8,850,000) claimed no religion.

At present the number of people claiming no religion outnumber churchgoers by 10 to 1

And by extrapolation there will be no church attendees in 40 years time.

What are you thoughts on this?

and say things like " If it wasn't mentioned by the early church writers, it's an obvious invention of a man, no matter how well-meaning he was."

But when an atheist or a person of another religion asks you for proof and parallels your argument by asking for proof from historical records, suddenly it becomes all about "faith"?

If you can't prove YOUR dogma, what makes you think you have the right to criticize and demand proof from any other religious group, even if they do have the same deities? After all, your views don't stand up to scrutiny from the Jewish perspective, or even the Islamic perspective.

Don't you think that it's just a tad hypocritical to criticize Catholics and other denominations?

Customer Care obviousely never even looks at the violation reports they get. They just trust the reporter, and delete the question/answer. And because of this, many accounts are getting unfairly suspended or deleted. And those of you who think its no big deal to just create another account, well, you have to admit it gets annoying after a while. This nonsense has to stop. You can help in the fight against Customer Care not reading the abuse reports by going to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/anti_nazi_allies/
I know some of you think that no matter what, Customer Care will never listen, but if we all work together, then we can do anything. So, do not have little faith. Help in the fight today. Or, if you want to try to stop us from succeeding in making Yahoo! a better place, you can simply click the "Report Abuse" button below this question.

If Christianity evolved from the Jewish religion, then why are there so many Jews today? Surely this must give the lie to Darwinism?

There is a guy who is interested in me, but I am not. He wants my number, and wants to know if I'll go out w/him. Being raised a JW I made the choice of not getting married (I am 22) and wait until paradise. Seeing how the world is and that marriage is not a happy union in this place, I would rather wait until Jehovah has brought his paradise to actually enjoy the sanctity of marriage. What should I tell him? I've thought about telling him that I am seeing someone within my congregation just to keep him out, but I'd be lying to him. By the way, this is phone conversations from work. I met him only once last year. What can I tell him? I have never had a boyfriend, and don't plan on it. Due to my choices, there is another problem. People at work are saying I am a lesbian, not full out but their intentions and behavior makes me believe that they think that. I know I am not, I've already expressed my intentions. Any suggestions on how to handly both situations?

Would you have kids if you thought there was a 50/50
chance of them "making it"

If we are a mirror of God's image, would you want to see any

to fix their wiring a bit, if you were God, and you were the

hey so i am very confused about something?

in the original bible God says that he is the only One. That we should not worship anyone but Him, & God stresses that fact many times.

So why do we worship Jesus. Is that not contradicting what God has said?

Why rewrite the bible, almost makes it look like God has made a mistake, or someone thinks He did?

Plus. Both bibles were written by man - dictating what God has said.

Considering how superstitious people were in those days, how do we know that the bibles were not just a fabrication of some random person?

Was it because of the control issues? Did you discover their teachings were not biblical? Were you confused by the history of false prophecies? Or...something else?

And if you did leave, do you today consider yourself to be a Christian, or did you leave religion altogether? Thanks.

Catholics: Are you tired of being confronted about our traditions and being told that we follow the "traditions of men"? Do you find yourself unable to locate & quote the scriptures that support the following of tradition? Do you want to be able to effectively defend your Church's teaching as St. Peter told us to do? (1 Peter 3:15 "...always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you".) To learn the basics about defending "Tradition", go to this link: http://www.catholic.com/library/Scripture_and_Tradition.asp

After reading that introduction, dig deeper by reading these books:

Seriously.
The entirety of the R&S board fits into the following categories:
#1. Proselytisation.
#2. Attacks levelled at other groups.
#3. Satire.
#4. General-purpose trolling.

None of the above imply any semblance of respect for the beliefs of others. As such, why does anyone here even pretend to be respectful of the beliefs of others?

I'm openly disrespectful of everyone else's beliefs (yes... everyone)... and am honest enough to admit it.

What about you?

Why don't they just stay with God? He kicked Adam and Eve our of EDEN, but why do we still have so many souls coming to Earth? Are they 'kicked' out too? Are they being....let go from where ever they come? Why?

where does it say that we are daughters of eve and sons of Adam in the bible? I am just wondering because I wonder if people are lost in there own way and created the fact that we all come from adam and Eve. In my eyes the Jews were created from them, the rest from other couples. But if it says it in the bible that man came from Adam, and daughters came from Eve then I am wrong.

by the way the movie is about the Lion the witch and the wordrobe.

Yesterday, the following was posted in a question

"Did you hear that Muslims in Dearborn Michigan were celebrating the bridge collapse in Minneapolis?"

In response, two people (Damon and Indiana Raven) answered with "it wouldn't surpirse me."

As somebody who lived in Detroit for about 2.5 years, and knows a few Muslims from Dearborn, my gut told me that there was no merit to the original claim. And here we are, a day later, and there is still nothing on the newswires indicating that this might be true.

So my question is whether or not people who make such racist assumptions about others ever go back and check the validity of their assumptions? And if so, do they ever apologize?
