Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”

Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts [“thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “all his thinking,” NE; “plans,” RS, NAB] do perish.”

Is there some part of man that lives on when the body dies?

Ezek. 18:4: “The soul [ “person,” TEV] that is sinning—it itself will die.”

Isa. 53:12: “He poured out his soul [ “life,” TEV; “himself,” JB,] to the very death.” (Compare Matthew 26:38.)

In other words, when we die, we're dead; we no longer exist. The spirit does leave the body, but the soul (which the Bible says is the person) doesn't. The Bible does teach the hope of a ressurection, however. John 5:28, 29 says: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice [the voice of Jesus] and come out.

when the soul leaves the material body, we are taken to Yamaraja , and according to the way we lived our lives , we will then be judged and given another body that will allow us to finish any unfullfilled material desires we may still have. Some people may be put into hell for awhile, in order to recieve punishment, however hell is not permanent. The pure realized servant of God does not have to take another flesh body and will go back to Godhead with no fear of having to come back to these material realms, this is what we must prepare for , and that is why we are to only have one goal in life, which is to get a spiritual body and end the cycle of birth, death, old age and desease. Only through the mercy of the Lord can we be spared. Seek out God and have no more fear.

decomposition, cremation or digestion, depending on how you die, if your corpse is found before scavengers eat it and your wishes are written down and carried out.
If you mean your consciousness, no one truly knows. Those who say they do are expressing an opinion or regurgitating what they were taught in a religious setting. But the truth is no one truly knows if any part of your consciousness survives longer than your physical brain. So far, with what science has revealed, it seems unlikely that we live-on as ghosts or spirits. But, it's nice and comforting to think otherwise. Choose what feels right for you. After you die, it won't matter anyways.

All that we know is that death is inevitable. Whatever happens after death is unknown. Why should we even bother about it? What should we do in life?-if you find out the answer to this and engage yourself in productive activities , you are spending your time wisely. Why waste time on getting answers for questions that are beyond us?

Well I don't know for sure but here is what I suspect: I believe that when we die our spirit rises up and we meet Peter standing at the pearly gate with the Book of Life in his hands. I believe he will say if our name is written there. I believe after that we go to a different place, not necessarily inside the gate, but a different place and are judged as the Bible states every man will be judged according to his works and it states that we'll give an account for every idle word that comes from our mouths. I believe then we will go to Heaven or Hell depending on how we've lived our lives. If we go to Hell then I believe we'll be in torment as the Bible says forever. If we go to Heaven I believe the first thing we'll do is lay our crown at the Master's feet and worship Him in His full glory. May not be what happens but that's what I believe.

In this day and age in spite of intelligent info and open mindedness there is a stone age thinking by some who still claim that unless you go via Jesus or some other belief system you will rot in Hell!
Grow up guys, expand your mind a little. Will this fantastic Universal Intelligance (GOD) throw someone out on a mere technicality regardless of virtues in a person? Does it make any sense at all to anyone? MIND IS LIKE A PARACHUTE. iT ONLY WORKS IF IT IS OPEN!

After you die you back to Allah. We all will be raised again on the day of judgement. And if you believe in him, according to you deeds he will place you in heaven or hell. But if you disbelieve in him then he has said in the quran that the non-believers will find there place in hell. Allah is all wise and All knower, he will not do injustice with anyone he has already sent prophets and his last messenger Muhammad (S.A) and the Book Quran. It is your duty to read it and worship him because we are his servants. From him we came and to him we shell return.

We are in the lap of eternity and there actually is no death to us. Ignorant that we are, we erronously feel that our body is ourselves and therefore feel jittery on the thought of death.

A simple and logical thinking by commonsense can make us realise our true selves, which will make us live in eternity and not in this present perishable life time.

The elements of which our bodies are made up, disintegrate and form new compounds and new beings , as atom /matter is indestructible. This is re-incarnation according to the Hindu philosophy. But according to Christianity , you go to hell or heaven and when you go to heaven, you will be accommodated in the house of god to spend your life with your spouse at eh cost of God for eternity.According to Islam which is a copy of the bible with slight modifications here and there ,you go to heaven if you believe in Allah and given a dozen young damsels of equal age with swelling brats for sex for eternity.Your four Muslim wives and the concubines that Allah mercifully allows you to have on the earth will be left in the lurch and when they come to heaven , it is not known what they would be given to have sex for eternity. There is an omission in Koran in this respect . It is also not known what the children of various ages who also die would be given to have sex as sex for eternity is the sole and ultimate purpose of life according to Islam.
