I may have this wrong but here is my reading of the tower of babel.

God (R-Heaven) is all-loving and wants us to love him too. So some people who really loved god got together and built a tower to try to be closer to God (since they loved him so much). But all this love angered this all-loving God so he struck down the tower and as punishment he cast humanity (which he loves) into separate tribes - more or less sentencing them to spend the rest of history killing each other in senseless wars.

LoL. Someone reported ALL my posts yesterday that had anything to say that was even remotely Atheist, and so in turn I had 10+ Violation notices in my inbox this morning. I guess that showing that God does not exist is against the Yahoo terms of service.

So instead of asking real questions, I will just spout Fireball type dribble, seeing as how religious zealots do not get reported.

She sprinkled salt over every door entry in the house. Has a crystal hanging from the window in one area of the living room. She has a red dragon looking thing I forget what it's called. lol hanging from another window in her kitchen. Along with another crystal and a small dream catcher in one other window i the kitchen. She has like 10 types of herbs that are "new to me" in her kitchen. lol and she loves animals and says "witchcraft is wonderful if it works for you". She accepts me for being a witch. And...she literally has like 12 candles in her house. Different colors too. She also loves loves loves nature and respects "the mother earth". and she loves to cook. lol
But what do you think? Could she be a witch?

Ok i was raised a Seventh-day Adventist and I really did believe in my religion at one point. But now I'm so confused i don't even know if i believe in God and the Bible any more. So my Questions are:

1. Why do you believe in God?
2. What's the difference between Naive' and Blind trust and Fait?
3. Is it possible that religion is just a way for people to deal with life and non of it's really even true?
4. Is there really any such thing as pure and whole truth?

In Islam, I understand that drinking alcohol is not allowed, hence the reason there are shisha cafes(i hope thats right) but is drinking mead acceptable, its not alcohol its made of honey. Would drinking mead be allowed or is there a prohibition on that as well, just curious. Partly asking because of the scene in the 13th warrior when the guy drinks mead after learning its made of honey not alcohol.

sin? disobeying the words of Jesus or disobeying the words of men?
Jesus said obey the laws of Moses.
The "apostles"( whom did not write the books of the NT) say they do not apply.
SO which should we do?

this is going to sound strange, but here goes.. my bf's boss and wife are mormons..well, the other day my bf said that the boss's wife had something sticking out from the bottom of her shorts, the way he described it to me was kind of thin spandex looking, about the length of her shorts, the first thing I thought was she was just wearing a girdle. Well, then my bf told the boss's brother about it and he told him that all Mormons wear those things under their clothes on top of their underwear. This sounds really strange to me and the guy is also known to lie ALOT so I was just wondering if anyone knows this mormon undergarment thing to be true?

I believe so. We are hard working, live normal, happy, free lives & we help others, we work as a team without religion being a factor. We are generous, loving & have a good sense of humour. So why do the Christians & some other religions hate us so much? Dont they like how honest WE are?

If I was to profess that I believed that little, purple, magical man-llamas with telepathic powers were secretly monitoring and controlling every aspect of our lives I would be locked up in a padded room and drugged in a heartbeat.

What makes that irrational belief any different from believing in a god or an angel or a deity of any sort from one of the "traditional" organized religions?

Read a book called "the Evolution cruncher." It proves to me that evolution isnt right. And theres no evidence for creationism. Thus, in my opinion, neither work. Perhaps a compromise between the two theories would work, but theres no evidence for such a compromise. My belief? Science will eventually figure out the truth. But only if they would drop evolution and realize that it doesnt work.

Your thoughts please? And dont just call me an idiot okay? Its my opinion.

I have found that during meditation, once I become very relaxed and receptive, my core begins to rock - either in a side-to-side motion, or circular - and the rest of my body follows. It is very relaxing once I "tune into it" and it seems to open up my top two chakras. Does anybody know where this comes from? Is it physiological or more psychically oriented? I can resist it if I try to, but it feels like a strong pull.

Okay. I know that if you don the mark of the beast you're doomed for all eternity...However if you are forced to wear it and you don't use it for anything such as buying selling or anything like that? Will god forgive you?

I believe that if you where forced to but never use the mark I imagine that god will forgive that person because he didn't follow in Satan's plan.

I asked why some ministers are so rich.

I am not poor. I don't believe that ministers should be poor.

I just think that some of them are con-artists and make people believe that if they give them their money that they will go to heaven.

There is nothing wrong with people donating money to churches.

evolution is about, that they just fuel the stereotype that creationist are morons?
Evolution is NOT random.
It doesn't prove OR disprove God (sorry my athiest friends but it doesn't. It presents evidence but nothing conclusive)
It does NOT state the ORIGIN of life, it is only how life became as it is now.
So, can we all agree that if you are going to argue evolution vs creationism that you should actually know what you are argueing about?

he wrote:

"...when you're God is as big as mine . . you can be ignorant."

now, i would say that, not only is this statement arrogant, it is also extremely dangerous

i mean, think about it. what he is saying is, his God AFFORDS him ignorance!

and we all know what comes of ignorance...

im making a serious point here.

what do other people think?

Do you think God should have sent Jesus to atone for man's sins directly after the fall of man? Why did he wait for four thousand years? If He had come maybe even two or three months earlier, wouldn't that have saved a lot more souls?
