The question of religion making you a good person is such a joke.
You can be a good person without being religious, just like you can be religious and still be a bad person.
I think it is even a bigger deal when someone with high moral authority abuses their power and makes everything they stand for look like a joke. (ie...priests and molestation, or the president hiding behind the bible to not make decisions on his own)
At least atheists and agnostics don't claim to be a certain way, and then go against everything they judge so harshly for everyone else. Can't say the same for others...
Each person is free to believe whatever they want. I just hate how easily people judge whether someone is going to heaven or hell on their own system of beliefs. If they are Christians, then they should know that each sin in God's eyes are the same, and that judging someone is just as much of a sin as any of the other ones.

As A christian, I know there are good atheists. Also, I don't equate being an atheist as the same as being an axe murderer.
I believe in a live and let live attitude, and the only time I get irked is when militant Atheists try to use the court system to get the Creator excised from the language of the country.
Some examples are: "In God we trust" on the dollar bill. The huge cross overlooking Los Angeles, and trying to get the Crosses removed from the town seal of Las Cruces, New Mexico, when Las Cruces actually means "the Crosses."
Once I have delivered my message of good hope from the gospel, I leave each person to digest it in his or her own way, and will only continue if they ask questions.

Of course Atheists are good people. Religion has nothing to do with how good of a person you are (or are not.) I have met way to many people who claim to be religious that are actually very bad people with little regard for others. Look at the Spanish Inquisition, Catholic priests, abortion clinic bombings and anyone who has been in jail for a long time-They are all "Christians". Any "Christian" who persecutes you due to a separate belief isn't Christian at all. Jesus preached love and acceptance-all of "gods word" that segregates women, homosexuals and others is found in the Old Testament, were Jesus doesn't really make an appearance. As long as you live by a moral code, you shouldn't worry about your "goodness".

I think that atheists can be "good people" as well as moral individuals, as to why Christian's hate them I can't answer that...I honestly did not know that "Christians" did! I can say that I believe that it may often than not be the other way around and hate may not be the correct word. I do believe that atheists agendas not to have any religion forced on anyone and everyone believe what they want is there way of "forcing" there religion or lack of on the rest of us, so in a way they are doing what they are saying they don't want done, in my opinion.

I do not hate Atheist. I really do not understand all of it and I'm sorry that I do not really want to. I think on many things we would agree. If we lived close together we may even work on things together. The only people who get me all worked up are the ones that are rude and hateful. Got to tell you they are found in every walk of life. I have seen hate flying from all sides. And sometimes the very nature that makes us what we are is considered hate. Just as you may look for logic for answers and comfort I will turn to prayer. So when I say you are in my prayers please do not think that it is being mean. It just means that I care enough about you.
Yours In Christ,
Miss Mona

Some are... some aren't. No single group I have ever seen, as whole, has nothing but hard working, normal, happy, free people who are willing to help others... doesn't matter if one works as a team with or without religion... People are people.... and you are always going to find assholes.

Atheists come in all flavors, just like the rest of humanity.
Theists come in all flavors, just like the rest of humanity.
Pagans come in all flavors, just like the rest of humanity.
A Pagan, simply by virtue of being Pagan, is not a better person than people who follow other faiths, or not faith at all, are. A Pagan, simply by virtue of being Pagan, is not more trustworthy, more polite, more compassionate, more generous, more wise, more humane than others are. I would that it were so, but it is not.
The same can be said of any belief or non-belief.
*****
I don't hold the opinion that atheists are, by virtue of being atheists, bad people. Nor do I hold the opinion that atheists, by virtue of being atheists, are better than anyone else.

Atheists are the same as the rest of us. They aren't honest, and they aren't particularly 'good'.
Just human beings stumbling along making a lot of wrong directions on an unlit path. Same as all of us.
Just as bigoted, just as ignorant, just as prone to adopt opinions on matters they know nothing about.
Good people? No. Just people.

Why wouldn't they be?
They only hate you because you don't believe in their religion; they just can't imagine - and usually because their religion says that people who don't believe in it are right evil, or right eejits basically.
And of course, gullible as they are, they believe that's true.
Now I myself am half a catholic - and half a pagan - but I really don't care if anyone chooses to believe in something else, or in nothing supernatural at all... you can't expect everyone to believe in the same thing you do, can you?

the bible says 'there is no one that does good, not one' its not about whos nice and whos a jerk. its about either being covered with christs rightousness, or relying on your own works to justify you.because nice people go to hell every day of the week.
