I asked why some ministers are so rich.

I am not poor. I don't believe that ministers should be poor.

I just think that some of them are con-artists and make people believe that if they give them their money that they will go to heaven.

There is nothing wrong with people donating money to churches.

there are some con artists. The ones who say, send me money and I will send you water that will make you rich, sexy and famous...HAH!
I see nothing wrong with those who donate to churches provided that the money does indeed go to the churches for their upkeep or mission work...I give to charities. I like some of the ministers very much but there are some that crack me up. I remember that one preacher said on television that he does not pray for his members! Iwas like, well, i won't watch you...
listen, you cannot buy a miracle nor your way into heaven...

If you read the Bible it clearly states that you reap what you sow. Its also mentioned that God wants our first fruits to benefit his teachings and the church. Meaning in a round about way, your first 10%. When I went to Catholic church, they did not explain it this way. In fact they told us that the average income in our community was 70,000.00 per person and that we need to give X amount of dollars. That is wrong.
Now, being a Christian, of course our Pastor lives a nice life, but I believe that is completely because he gives his first fruits and then some to our church because he does do work outside of the church. I've seen it in my own life. I made a dedication to give my first fruits along with my boyfriend and our lives have already increased financially. There is nothing wrong with having nice or expensive things. They are a blessing and The President, Pastors, Teachers, Bus Drivers, etc. should not have to live by what we think is the standard. Each person is given what they can handle and what they deserve. Comments like this just make me feel like you are jealous.. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

There are evil people everywhere. The Church is not immune to this. People who prey on the weak with promises of health or wealth if you would only send them a donation are an evil that the Church suffers from. This has nothing to do with the Good that the Church does in the world or the honest hard working servants of God working in the Church at near poverty wages.. I am glad to see that you don't begrudge a workman his wages... Jim

i think what it really boils down to is being a good steward of the blessings God gives us. does a minister need a corvette or a jet-doubt it. should a minister live in a three bedroom ranch house or a mansion? What Would Jesus Do?

There is nothing wrong with a pastor having nice things. I think there are ALOT of cons out there who do abuse the title though. There are also alot of good pastors out there too. If he is truly in the word, bringing the message God wants to the congregation, & doing what God wants then he deserves his wage.

It is a question of primary motive. Their's is money and power, not the glory of God's name. The Bible shows nothing is wrong with money itself. It is the LOVE of money that is the problem. Love over everything else in life.

Much of what you are saying is true. Turn on the TV and EVERY preacher you see that is able to be on TV is rich and are most likely compromising the true Gospel message to feed their greed.

I don't think that some of them are, I know that some of them are con-artist. But then God spoke of hypocrites. And yes we should support our church. It is our duty to.
