they only give a small amount to chairity and make the lions share of money so why donate ??

I suspect because it's convenient. Value Village is up front on the website about being a for profit company. They make arrangements with local charities where your donation is made to the charity and then purchased from the charity by Value Village. If the charity had its own thrift shop, they could probably make more money but many charities do not.

no, it is a privately owned company sometimes called savers village with the headquarters in new york.. "two primary owners, the son of our founder and a private equity firm located in New York/Los Angeles."
