This one shows the TRUE position of women before God..

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

God shows no favoritism based on sex. All one in Christ Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 - "Everything he has made pretty in its time. . . ."
Teenagers especially have trouble with their self-image. They think they are too fat or too thin, they have hair that's ugly or their face is not pretty, etc. But is that the way others look at them? No.
They can have comfort from Jesus' words found at Matthew 6:34 - "So, never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Sufficient for each day is its own badness."
Some things that can also help, is taking care of their health, eat proper foods, exercise, and drink plenty of water. Doing those things they will feel better and live healthier lives.
The Bible also tells us not to be squeezed into it's mold, talking about the world in general. (Romans 12:2)
Ask your friend, are not the other people you know rather plain and average looking? They probably are. So what determines if you like them? It's their personality, right? So if you develop your personality to be likeable, then people will like you, no matter what you look like.

Here's some...

1 Peter 3: 3,4 - "And do not let YOUR adornment be that of the external braiding of the hair and of the putting on of gold ornaments or the wearing of outer garments, but let it be the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible [apparel] of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God."

Proverbs 31:30- "Charm may be false, and prettiness may be vain; [but] the woman that fears Jehovah is the one that procures praise for herself."

1 Timothy 2:9, 10- "Likewise I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb, but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God, namely, through good works."

finally..
In a society where image often counts for more than substance, the bible says: "Everything the world affords, all that panders to the appetites or entices the eyes, all the glamour of its life, springs not from the Father but from the godless world. And that world is passing away with all its allurements, but he who does God's will stands for evermore."—1 John 2:16, 17

Hope those help :)

I have some verses that might help them look at things realistically.

What are they? Christians? Why are they Christians?

Because they believe that God tells the truth, and we need to listen to what He said over what we see. He said that if you believe in His Son that you could be saved.

So this is what I would give to them:

Humble yourself before God
Ezra 9
6 "O my God, I am too ashamed and disgraced to lift up my face to you, my God, because our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens."

Thank God for His grace
Psalm 96
1 Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.

Claim the promises of God
Psalm 37
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Boldly walk in Spirit and truth
Romans 8
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The reason why this might seem to be a round about way to confidence is because we ought to prepare ourselves for what God has for us. We are to place our trust on Him, to place ourselves in the life of Faith that we are to live in. WE ARE BASING OUR LIVES ON HIS WORD! We are rooting what makes us confident on Him and NOT on the things we see, or the things that the world values.

So you and your girls might end up with self-confidence, self-image, not caring what other people think, properly IF you base it on God.

As far as loving yourself; let Go deal with that too. There are ways of the world that places importance on 'self' and it understands that. What we do is trust God, and love our neighbors as ourself. Once again, we diminish the importance on self in favor of placing importance on God.

I hope this helps you.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which stengthens me.

Psalm 27:1
the Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children,
and have overcome them:
because greater is He that is in you,
than he that is in the world.

We appreciate your question concerning the ideas that you have about Islam, and we hope to discuss what you have written and correct some of your ideas, so as to arrive at a firm conviction of the truth of the matter.

What you have mentioned about the Islamic belief about Paradise, and the enjoyment of wine, women and song therein, falls wide of the mark. The pleasures of Paradise are not merely physical in nature, they also include the joy of feeling safe and secure, and of being content with God and being close to Him.
