What are the odds of life arising on its own?
Full blown human? zilch. Accelerated complexity from simplicity? too many to compute (check the multiplication of virii and bacteria in a petri dish with adequate nutrients and the drosophyle mutations after a few generations).
Panspermia? Check the results of astronomic observation: a great many comets show organic compounds and fossilized bacteria (dead end evolution?) were found on Mars. It point towards the odds that life might be more common that we thought.
Created universe? Suggests the creation of this U from some other mega-universe, who created the first one then?
Could god create himself simultaneously with the U?
So what are the odds of the existence of a god? The present human situation on Earth at every level screams for a referee, isn´t he a bit long to appear? If he is past, present and future, isn´t he late?
For every answered prayer, isn´t there a huge majority of miserable people whose prayers stay unanswered?

Evolution is a scientific fact; yet many still believe in the refuted theory of creationism, as well as the god hypothesis. They question the idea of evolution because they believe there to be a lack of evidence to support it yet when their god hypothesis is questioned they just say it's faith. Well; what if atheists started saying that they believed in evolution because of faith?

Hello all! I pray that you are doing well this morning. Today I would just like to share. A lot of people have the idea that they are better Christians than others. I, myself have had fleeting thoughts of "being a better Christian" when I see brothers and sisters who have fallen. Thank God for His Spirit which quickly corrects us. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. We all fall, occasionally. We just fall in different directions. There is the adulterer, the drug addict, the thief, the boastful, etc. So is the drug addict better than the adulterer? Or is the boastful better than the thief? In God's eyes, no. We are all the same. God extends His mercy to ALL of us. When a fellow Christian falls, shouldn't we extend the same mercy? Of course we cannot be as good as God. But, shouldn't we try to be understanding, instead of thinking " we are a better Christian than they are" and looking at them with pity. What about when we fall?

When I read previous questions about Jesus and our current war, I see people quote- "If you do not have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." and "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword." meaning we are to fight (their definition)

If you believe He was telling us to fight, is that what Jesus did when He was crucified?

Which is it, do as He says or do as He does? or do you think he may have been saying something else?

My intent is not to offend anyone, just to understand both views.

From many of the questions asked on this forum by non-Catholics, you would get the impression that catholics never pray to Jesus or the Father.

Question for fellow Catholics - What percentage of your prayer time is directed to God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and what percentage of your prayer time is directed to Mary and the Saints in Heaven?

W were talking about Christian women loving and respecting their husbands despite the fact that they do not believe in God. The pastor's wife (group leader) went on to say that the bible states, "But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances...". SO - I went on and asked if the bible also said that a woman is still not supposed to remarry if that husband leaves her... and she politely said that it's a gray area and a whole new topic and to ask more after the group discussion if I would like - then it donned on me that out of the 25+ people in this group some of them probably were divorced and remarried. Sure enough, we split into our smaller groups and one of them was talking about her troubles with her current husband, and her ex-husband over their daughter's custody. Should I feel bad? I do.

Why do Catholics pray to Mary and confess to a priest when we all have direct access to Jesus Christ? Who are we suppose to pray to? What does the Bible say about it? I believe that if you have your own relationship with Jesus Christ that you should pray to him and him only. You should repent to him and him only, not men. What do you all think?
