It frightens me to think that an otherwise intelligent person can be under such mind control.

The above line was spouted by an alleged Christian. Where in the Bible is the idea of marriage being ONE WIFE per man?

It seems to me the Bible seethes with polygyny. (Plural marriage in which there is one male and multiple females.)

Since this "divine order of marriage" is not in the Bible, what is the justification for some Christians to claim it is a religious belief of theirs?

Or is this another case where what's in the Bible is optional for Christianity....just trying to keep those straight.

Almost daily, the question is asked : "why are atheists here?". Often, theists will state that atheists are only here to "tear down the beliefs and faith(s) of others".

If a theist's beliefs are shattered -- or even put into question -- by a question or an answer from an atheist, then how strong were those beliefs anyway?

I've been saved for 7+ years now & counting........

I actually have 2 questions:
1) What type of music did you used to listen to before you got saved?

2) Have you totally stopped listening to it because of our faith in Christ?

My answers:
1) Heavy metal (Kiss, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest), soft rock (i.e. Billy Joel, Elton John)

2) I still own those CD's and every now and then.....pop in a Billy Joel CD just because.

ultimately, we all evolved from rocks. That's what evolutionists really believe when you question them.

Does that make more sense then believing God Created us?

muslims say that they are slaves to allah and think of themselves as sinners who need to even die for this fairy tale

christians constantly call themselves as sinners who have fallen short of the glory of god

buddhists keep muttering away that they are sinners who need to suffer in order to be reborn to a better life

Hindus have the same idea

now here is my question,
whats so wrong and depraved about this life we were born to live in order so that religious people can go on muttering away that human life is inherently evil?

If not, then how can atheists say that they *know*, even to the extent of being an absolute certainty that God doesn't exist and pretend that the fact that they, in their infinite arrogance, are 100% sure of themselvs is 100% proof that He doesn't?

If atheists deny the existence of God and agnostics are skeptical about the existence of God. What am I? I believe there is a god, but hes not worth worshiping what is this called?

because i usually only ever see men that have more than one wife, if that is the case then it's very biased.

for proof. What evidence are *you* looking for? What would I have to show you to convince you that there is a God?

As best I can figure out there's one of two possibilities. The first one is the one I believe, YES God exists. The second one is no, God doesn't exist. Is the existance of God relegated on whether you believe in Him or not?

Could God exist even though you don't believe in Him? Could the Bible be true even though you don't believe in it? Or is the Bible true because you do believe in it? Or is the existance of God or truth of the Bible based upon our beliefs?

I have been to a couple different kinds throughout life, but it has been sometime since I've been to one. My daughter would like to go and see what it is like and I would like to take her, but I'm not sure where to start. I hate to go someplace that as soon as you walk in they make a big deal about it because what if I don't like it and never come back. I personally don't think you need to go to church to be a christian, but I would like to let my children make the decision for themselves. So any input on how you chose your religion and or church would be greatly appreciated.

Patients with Schizophrenia often have hallucinations. Psychologists have observed that when patients with these symptoms stay in close proximity to eachother so that they can talk freely, they often share the exact same hallucinations after only a short duration of time. It is not unknown for several of these patients to share a similar hallucination but possess no other symptoms. The only reason these people are regarded as insane is due to the fact that they believe something to be there that "apparently" is not. The belief in a god is similar to this: groups of people that believe something to be there that "apparently" is not. Logically, either these patients should be released, or all theists should be institutionalized. Which should it be?

I am just wondering what ppl think. I say my prayers daily(sometimes two or three times in a day), try to do good deeds everytime opportunity presents itself, try to do everything by the book, I think I am a generally nice person who always tries to help someone in need if I am in a position to do so. I DO NOT go to church tho for a number of reasons which I don't have time to type, but I am not against church or those who choose to attend with GOOD intentions. I believe being a church member is a lifestyle not just something you do on Sat or Sun depending on your religion. I have a lot of issues with the term "religion" I think it segregates and sometimes makes ppl think they are better than ppl in another group. I have strong faith in GOD and want to spend my eternity by his side but sometimes I feel there is more I need to do. Any opinions, suggestions, comments? No sarcasm plz!!

Why is it that when the going gets tough people blame God for their mistakes and they say if God is a loving God then He will not throw them into the lake of fire for their sins? Can't people just take responsibility for their actions, I mean God is not to blame because they are disobedient and because they are sinful. God Almighty is a faithful God, He's faultless, perfect and all powerful.
I'm not trying to offend anyone just trying to understand why they justify their actions/sins that way.
