I've been a Catholic for 39 years now. It's brilliant - you get together for a bit of a sing-song, shake each others hand and then on a Wednesday night we all go up on the moors, paint our faces blue and dance naked round a big fire! I don't know if everyone does the last bit though.

Converting to Catholicism can only be a good thing.

There are many Christian denominations, all of which possess varying portions of God's Truth. These denominations are not bad. They can and do teach many Truths about God.

However, why settle for less when one could become a member of the One Church that boasts the Fullness of the Truth?

It is going to take time, and a considerable personal effort on your part, to develop a solid understanding of Catholic Dogma. While it's enough to know what the Dogma is, it would be even better if you were to take the time to know WHY it is.

The Catholic Church will teach you the basics, but it's in your best spiritual interest to learn as much (more) on your own as you can.

In learning the Truths promoted by the Church, you will discover what it means to be a Catholic.

Hope you got good knees. Catholic mass is like aerobics. Stand, sit, kneel, and one and two, Feel the BURN!

Seriously, it's not much different than other Christian services, but the songs are alot more beautiful and they've got years of history and experience on other Christian groups. The problem with people who convert to the Church late in life is that they tend to become fanatics, so they may get really really strict about what they percieve as moral wrongs and rights. It happens, take it in stride.

You should be worried if your parent would choose the Jehova Witnesses or the Mormons religion, thjose are really tight and hard t follow. But the Catholics are very relaxed and your life wont change very much.

Your mother's friend has influenced her and she in turn has influenced your Dad.
It doesn't mean that you should immediately follow suit.
You should make up your own mind.
Try observing for some time what the effect of this change if any has upon your relationship with them.
You may then eventually decide it's for you or then again you may think that it's not.

Stand up, sit down, kneel. Rinse - repeat. The catholic church is all about theatrics. You can find each reading that will be in your sunday mass years ahead. The only difference is the 5-10 minute homoly. Otherwise every mass is the same. Don't forget to bring your 10%

What I remember from the Catholic mass:
1) Stand, sit, kneel, repeat, repeat, repeat
2) Good choirs, good music, terrible singing by the mass
3) Long boring sermons that can be pretty awful at times
4) Same Bible readings and themes every year. Meaning once you go for one year, it's the same for the rest of your life.

You have a choice. Just because they are converting, it doesen't mean you have to. read up on whatever religion interests you, including Taoism or Atheism. It can't hurt to know other people's perspectives....

Well, out of the many Christian religions, Catholics are often pretty open minded (the people, not the pope, lol).

It's like any other religion really... Few differences are:
1. you can do anything you want and it's all cleansed by a confession and a few hail mary's.
2. you not only worship god but you can worship other false idols like a cross, and mary too!
3. if you have little boys, watch them closely.
4. no more contraception, it's against your religion now.
