If they showed up at my church I would help them see that God loves them.

How would you define them as Atheists. I'm sure that if a non-believer decided to sit through a church service for knowledge, he wouldn't have something on him to identify himself as an Atheist .

That would depend on their behavior. I would treat them the same way I'd treat a member of the church or anyone else, if their behavior was disruptive, I would ask them to leave.
I see what you're trying to do here, but it is not a good analogy. When people ask why atheists are at the R&S forum, they ask those whose purpose at R&S is to inform believers that they are "stupid, ignorant," and much, much worse.
I'd escort a Christian spewing hate to the door, too.

No, I would think they where there to learn. Not to become Christians or anything, but to learn about the religion, to pick it apart and to learn about it...although I would like to watch the elders get flustered.
That would be if I attended church. I haven't in 7 years. The elders will do that to a girl.

In order for us to know they're atheists, they'd have to be carrying a banner, shouting slogans or wearing t-shirts, which is unlikely ...
But if atheists showed up at my church, I'd assume they were there to listen (respectfully, I'm sure) and have an awesome meal afterward at one of my church's famous "covered dish dinners."

If a group of atheists showed up at the church in my town, I would be with them, and we would be there to tear it down! Then I would say "Good job".

I know that this is a one of those what if questions, but when people come and visit our church, we don't ask them what religion/or lack of they have... so unless they told me I would know. With that being said, I would treat them like I would any other visitor.
I would welcome them, help them find a seat, if they were older tell them about the hearing aid, introduce them to the priest, and after mass make sure to tell them they were welcome back any time....
but that is just me.

No, but a common misconception is that this forum is the "xtian happy fun club" when it is in fact a forum to discuss religion. A topic that happens to be on the forefront of many Atheist's minds.

That sounds complicated to me, actually. And being atheist, i do no longer likely like the assumption of atheist church homes. *shrugs* purely a frightening theory that we could be come the hot faith - get all oppressive and forceful. desire that would not ensue.

How would I know they are atheists ?
It's not like they have a big A on their forehead.
If that were the case there would be alot of people in church with the letters L on their foreheads for Liar,
C for cheater,
S-for self righteous etc,...etc....etc !
If a bunch of atheist's showed up at my church ...
I'd smile and say welcome to Gods church.
A place of worship.

No of coarse not. But if they started acting in a loud obnoxious manner...you know like they do on here....then they would be asked to either show respect for GOD'S House or leave.
Why don't you get a bunch of your buddies together and try it out??
