I have been to a couple different kinds throughout life, but it has been sometime since I've been to one. My daughter would like to go and see what it is like and I would like to take her, but I'm not sure where to start. I hate to go someplace that as soon as you walk in they make a big deal about it because what if I don't like it and never come back. I personally don't think you need to go to church to be a christian, but I would like to let my children make the decision for themselves. So any input on how you chose your religion and or church would be greatly appreciated.

Regardless of denominational affiliation, you have to find a church that feels right. I am an Adventist. The church I go to is the only one for 2 hours in any direction. But the church was one of the reasons I moved here. When I walked inside and service started, I just felt God there. It is a highly integrated church with a mix of traditional and contemporary service.

Are you looking for a denomination? Go to websites and read their beliefs and find one you can agree with.

You will have to visit many churches to find the right one. God be with you on your search.

If you go for the beliefs then I would study the different tenants of the churches in your area. If you go for the companionship and community (don't scoff, it happens more often than you know) then trial and error, going to different once and see how it feels, how the people are towards you. That last one might take years as different days and different pastors will make a difference in the whole tone of the place. I know quite a few church hoppers that change when the pastors change.

Biology.teacher has some good advice. If you want a contemporary service, then it will have more modern music than the traditional service of hymn's. I think most churches you go to will greet you and make you feel welcome. Check the yellow pages, too. A lot of churches will tell of the services, and the times. But you really need one that you will be comfortable in.

This is a very simple issue. Pray to God to direct you to a good church (Holy Spirit Filled Church) by listing the names of the church you already know and pray over them. God will surely reveal one to you. I did likewise, and when i went there, I felt the presence of God and the Glory of God was so strong there.

Just don't take her to one. Or go to a roman catholic church because they are boring as hell and she will lose interest fast
