"The head of every man is Christ, and the head of every woman is man." (I Cor. 11:3)

"Women should remain silent in churches. They are not allowed to speak; but must be in submission as the Law says." (I Cor. 14:34-35)

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner." (I Tim. 2:11-14)

It's NOT in the Bible. No man ever has the right to hit any woman in anger.

The church men I know don't believe this or do it. Our wife is the most precious earthly possession that a man has.

Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Because religious people are not always people of God.

Those that do such things are not.

Some are, but some just go to religion to be in power, in some countries religion is power.

I think it's OK to hit your wife if she's not living for Jesus. I'm not sure where it says in the bible it's OK.

Luke 19 27 gives permission for the followers of Jesus to bring to him all of the non believers( those whom one Christian thinks are not beleivers), and slay them at his feet. Slay can be interpreted by some to mean "kill" or murder.

The men, having been programmed, brain washed, by their pastors, subliminally understand this, although it is not taught as a passage. The message is hidden behind the pastor's authority in the name of Jesus overall and Jesus's self righteous messages that are taught. If a pastor ever did relate to Luke 19 27, it, the excuse to abuse, can be even more predominant!

There are quite a few dysfunctional thoughts in Luke 19. One of building low self esteem(Jesus tells a parable where it is acceptable to insult a servant for doing exactly what the Master wanted), one is slaying Jesus's enemies at his feet, and another is stealing in the name of the Lord. Here is Luke 19 27.

"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.".

Sometimes the Bible and other books are as clear as mud! Some spiritual leaders, attempting to keep their parishoners and claiming full adherance to the "Word of God", will back walk this and say that it means spiritual slaying. But consider that slaying in the spiritual sense would be considered some kind of insulting or telling people to go to eternal damnation or wishing them there! How has that got anything to do with love your enemies or love your neighbor or judge ye not lest ye be judged?

So leaving it up to people who are given mixed messages, slaying goes to killing and gentler yet, just beat them to submission. But the message is hidden, mind you. Most men could not even recall that passage. The Christian churches, through their patriarchal structure, brainwash the unquestioning ideology whilst feeding and clothing and shelterring the poor.

Add to that the bipolar loop pattern of the memorized possibility of eternal damnation (permanent separation from God as a punishment for not confessing Jesus is the truth and all of the truth, the only Word of God), combined with the concept of supposedly there is only One God that is everywhere and hence not able to be separated from, being programmed over and over sometimes since birth, and you have one mixed up individual, that abusive man, that never knew what hit him!

Add to that the patriarchal structure of mankind because of women dying in childbirth and being generally weaker physically than a man and physical disease over time including menopause and passages that tell women to submit in the Bible and you have a good ole fashion, ready to beat a woman, revival! Nice, huh?

Add to that society's preoccupation with fixing it all by making most less strenuous less dangerous work a woman's job and trying to get women paid more for doing less actually, as in people should probably be paid according to their physical risk taking for mankind and insurance should be based on same, and you get some men who feel the right to lash out because they are oppressed and they feel it and get mixed in with alchohol and what not in that oppression which mixes their minds up more and mixes it up into other men, bullies and not.

Add to that, the Christian ethic of Peace as the main goal, (consider that you Rest in Peace when you die supposedly according to them?) and you have more excuse to eliminate and or to have limited discompassion for the problem, the wife's urge to disobey and disrespect her husband!

No mind you, this abuse does not stop with the wife. It goes to physical abuse of children and of fellow more docile less bullying males as well. And they get to come home to their wives and families attempting to suppress this treatment, (not bringing the job home?) and if they are not careful it comes out in mental and emotional abuse, acting out what was shared with them at work that they never knew what hit them!

Nowhere, of course.

Physical and mental abuse of spouses is not defendable, and those church folk who believe that it is defendable will get to tell "it to the judge."
