IT IS NOT A SIN
1 Timothy 4:4
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
Eating pork was against the law in the Old Testament.
Pork (swine, hogs, pigs) had a cloven hoof (split toes) they do not chew the cud.
It is no longer something we have to follow now that we are living in the New Testament.
Pork is not all that good for you. Especially if you have stomach trouble or high blood pressure.
According to Jewish law, pork is but one of the many foods forbidden from consumption. In the strictest sense, it is as forbidden as are horses and shrimp. There are gravest interdictions, like eating milk and meat together. However, pork has become the symbol for everything un-kosher, which calls for explanation. The general guidelines given in Leviticus are that a "walking" animal is kosher only if it both chews its cud and has cloven hooves. However, the pig is the only animal to have cloven hooves but doesn't chew its cud: its external aspect makes it appear kosher, while it is not, making it a symbol of hypocrisy
Leviticus 11,7-8
And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you (KJV.)
Deuteronomy 14,8
And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass (KJV.)

Some religions belief that pork is a sin because of the bible calling it a hoffed animal & unclean meat. But Jesus told Peter whatsoever I have cleansed call it not unclean. Now in Colossians 2:16-17 The bible speaks & says that let NO man Judge you in drinks, & of holydays, or the new moon or the sabbath days, or in meats. Now some people that does eat pork may not really be able to medically eat too much pork, But as a Christian for over 37 yrs. I still eat pork, beef, & deer, I even one time ate some buffalo, I do watch how much I eat since I am a lot older & have more health problems then I did 20 yrs ago. but to say concering a Truth on teaching about eating Pork, they try to hang onto old teachings back in the law, When in Roamans 10:4 Jesus Christ is the END of the Law.

Is shrimp or pork bad to eat?
First of all they are scavengers. If you go back in the Old Testament; God distinguished what foods we should eat and which one's we shouldn't. Now if you decide too; that's your choice, but some groups don't because it's an abomination to eat anything unclean. Isn't our body the temple of God as stated in 1Cor.3:18-19? We supposed to take care of our body and be in good health (3John 1:2).
Shrimp are made to eat the garbage under the sea floor; they carry diseases too. The pig is a scavenger too; it eats the slop on the earth and if you looked under a microscope of cooked ham; you will find worms in it. You really want tricinosis and diseases and things in your body?
** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:
GEN.18:7-8; EXOD.16:12,13; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.
----IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17). ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."

No meat is bad for dogs as such but depending on where you live you may have to be careful of your source. If you are buying human grade meat then pork should not be an issue in most countries. In Australia we do not have the parasites that many other countries need to worry about, but I do know that many other raw feeders from around the world always freeze pork, salmon and wild caught game before feeding it to their dogs (and themselves). My dog and cats eat chicken, turkey, pork lamb, beef, goat, fish and kangaroo. ** congratulations on making the change to non commercial food for your pets. I cannot help wondering why you are cooking it though......?

Just to add to what others have written... Pig flesh has similar characteristics as humans, and as you know scientists have been able to grow human organs on pigs for human transplantation - proving the similarities. Because our flesh is so similar, diseases and infections can be easily transmitting from pig to humans, by eating pork that is consumed raw or undercooked.
As taken from the below link, "One of the more serious parasitic zoonoses transmitted through pork is trichinellosis. The causal agent Trichinella spiralis is a slender worm which lives a few weeks in the small intestine of man and a number of animal species including pigs, dogs, cats, rats, wild carnivores and many others including marine mammals like seals and walruses. The larvae of the worm migrate from the intestine to the muscles of these animals and remain encysted there for years. Human infection results from consumption of insufficiently cooked meat of infected animals or meat products, mostly of porcine origin. The symptoms may start a week or 10 days after ingestion with the start of the muscular invasion phase. They consist of oedema of the upper eyelids, myalgia, headaches, fever, sweating and chills. The disease lasts for 10 to 30 days but muscular pains may persist in some cases for several months. Mortality is generally under 1% but in some outbreaks it may be as high as 30 - 35%".
God tells us not to eat Pork because it poses many risks to our bodies and our health.

There is a health and safety law, and a religious law. The health and safety says pork and ham are fine, as long as you cook them completely. The religious law says they are ritually unclean. This may well have started because people got sick from pork because they didn't know it had to be well done to be wholesome. But Jews and Muslims have not had pork in their diet for many centuries, so they may not have the appropriate enzymes to digest it properly.

Good question.
Pork is not the healthiest food. Many, pigs are unsanitary and carry parasites.
The reason we have been instructed not to eat pork is one of hygiene.
However, this leads us to a very important point. Many religious people ban the eating of pork and consider it evil.
This is because they are to spiritually blind.
They read the instructions not to eat pork, yet cannot see the difference between an unsanitary food and an unsanitary heart.
What matters to god is spiritual purity, not physical purity.
What comes from our heart makes us impure in the eyes of god, not what we put in our body.

SDAs don't eat unclean food as outlined in Leviticus. I am not a good Adventist to ask this of...because...I...cheat. There now everyone knows my sin.
But SDAs believe our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and should be card for in a way that glorifies God and promotes health. This is what causes many of us to become vegetarians. In a long-term study done in California, vegetarian Adventists lived longer than non-Adventists (and I think non-vegetarian Adventists). It was in National Geographic. Very interesting.

Pork is Dangerous in religions because of supernatural beliefs that pork contains evil spirits... Maybe pigs are accused of that because they look so different from the common creatures the people could see at that time... Pigs looked so unique that they thought it was bad! To me, If the religion Hinders you from eating something edible, find a new one... That religion is going to make you naive...

Pork is bad for the pig. Don't eat pork. It is bad to deprive an animal of its life for its flesh. How would you like someone to take you life for your meat? You may say you are not an animal!! But you are an animal. Think it through.
