Being fat is bad for one's health, so that alone should be inspiration to avoid the condition, whether an invisible deity cares or not. To answer your question, gluttony is a "sin" per the Christian Bible, but I don't believe obesity is ever named as one.

No, fat is not a sin. That is like saying, "Is pregnancy out of wedlock a sin?" The sin is found within the choice... not the consequence.

Some people are fat through no choice of their own. Some people are pregnant through no choice of their own.

That said, my fatness comes from sin (over-indulgence)... Still, I like to hope that people would overlook that little fault of mine, while I try to overcome it.

Sins do have degrees of "badness"... depending on how destructive they are to (1) yourself, (2) your family, (3) humanity. There are definitely more damaging sins that an addiction to (fattening) food.

I think behind fatness (at least my own) might lie a habit of self-focus... I need... so I eat. Perhaps meditation will help me overcome this self-focus... I try not to let my failings get me down, though. I love myself as I am, and that helps me to love my family.

No point beating yourself up over your sins, because then you'll just do the same to everyone else, and that is a sin, too!

The consequence of sin is mortal death, period. If something causes you or another being a quicker death, it is sinful, it causes more dense grief than if that death had not taken place. All differences, all uniquenesses, all trespass, all debt, all events in life between beings are sin and change chemical composure of their witnesses or sensors.

We all return to a source of Creation in afterlife, some call it heaven, where we understand better the entertainment for ourselves we created here!

I would just tell you, that if you are fat, I am concerned for your health. I would like you to lose to a normal weight if it will help you live and cause less dense grief on earth. But everyone is doing their best. If I can help you do better with what little energy I have, I am glad and I am meant to have less densenned your sinful effects on our lives.

Gluttony is considered one of the capital sins. Being overweight might be a consequence of gluttony, but it would not be the sin itself, only the effect of the sin. In terms of sin, always distinguish between the act which is sinful and the person, who because of their inherent dignity, cannot be reduced to the sin itself.

Being fat is not a sin. Gluttony (sometimes the cause of being fat) is the sin.

Not a sin. Just a reflection on society. I think that people are so depressed and disillusioned with what is happening around them that they turn to food as comfort. Eating is one of the few pleasures in a life of chaos, stress and anxiety.

We are to take care of our bodies, as they are the temple of the Holy Ghost. Sexual sin is worse. The Bible says this.

Yes, because it is both greed and gluttony. It is unhealthy and selfish. You need to share the wealth. And every sin is equal in God's eyes, except for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The Man upstairs ain't givin' you a pass on that one.
