Isn't baptism for the sole purpose of cleansing people from sin? Wasn't Jesus supposed to be born free of sin?

I think John the Baptist had a good point...............

why do people (like teachers) require us to use capital letters all the time? i mean really we should only capitalize God's name and anything to do with God shouldn't we? i mean, he deserves it and i don't even think we should capitalize anything but, God's name. don't you agree?

Their are obviously a whole bunch of contradictions in the bible, www.scepticsannotatedbible.com, but these christians still stubbornly decide to believe in that fairy tale no matter what!!! And how do they justify all those contradictions? They either say, "only God knows", or they'll say that it's metaphorical and go all the way changing the meaning of the whole text. If everything in the bible is metaphorical, then thier is no validity to it whatsoever. Because everyone can just twist its meaning back and forth to fit their own desires.

The real fascination of "Brainwashing" is that the recipients don't realize they've been brainwashed!

There are Gospels written by people who didn't actually meet Jesus in person. There are Epistles written by people who did know Jesus in person. The Gospels are taken as more valuable. Doesn't make sense somehow, does it?
If there was a Gospel written by Jesus wouldn't God have made sure it survived?

Does it come from not directing inward - but outward?

“ Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor... Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting. ”

What is your conclusion based on this?

"Those who believe that Prophet Muhammad , was the author of the Quran are absolutely wrong. However, merely saying that they are incorrect is not enough, without providing proofs. If we contemplate the nature of this glorious book (the Quran) and the capabilities of the Prophet , we will realize that these claims are illogical and groundless.

First, Prophet Muhammad , was unlettered. How can an illiterate person come up with such a rich, intellectual, and inspiring text that gained acceptance not only in Arabia, but also throughout the world?

Prophet Mohammad , never went to school! No one taught him. He had no teacher of any kind in any specific subject. How could he acquire the knowledge of Science, astronomy, oceanography, etc. that is contained in the Quran?

YHWH (Yahweh) translated Jehovah.
I learned that the Jewish does not use (or have?) the letter J. If that is so, then how did the translation of YHWH come to be Jehovah? Should it not have been Yehovah? Which is more respectable to God. And if Jehovah is a wrong translated name, than whoever uses it to call on Him, does He still hears and listen? Or would it be like calling a false God. Tell me, what is your opinion and reason.

I am so sick of the intolerant religions claiming I am intolerant and hateful while they hurl curses at me and make threats to me and my family.

Why can't man evolve beyond religion? And when might it happen?

The age of humanity (whether or not you factor in The Great Flood)

Linked to #1, above, is the unrealistic rate of human reproduction necessary to repopulate the world in such a limited number of generations

The complete omission of dinosaurs -- which were not to be discovered for almost 2 thousand years after the Old Testament was completed

Insects with FOUR feet (Leviticus 11:21-23)

The bat is a bird (Leviticus 11:13-19)

The snake had legs/feet until cursed by God for tempting Eve. This is clearly falsified by fossil record

The world is flat (circular or rectangular)

The earth is motionless

Disease is caused by demonic possession and is curable by exorcism

The entire earth was flooded by 15 cubits (22.5 feet) of water. This is only deep enough to flood low-lying areas

Noah's ark was woefully inadequate in size to handle all the earths animals and inadequate in technology to feed and water them -- and to dispose of their "sewage"

Sensible answers plz

one thing. When I ask questions here I've had some awesome answers from all religious beliefs. But there is one religion that has alway answered my questions without judgment, and with love. (not saying that the other religions haven't answered with love) But I've noticed that I have never had any negative comments from the Muslim community. Their answers are never of hate and have been very helpful in my spiritual journey. This is just an unbiased observation and I appreciate all the answers I've received from the non-hateful people from all religions on this site.

And no, I don't feel like I was trying to be converted. Because I am a former Christian and am now a Agnostic that will never go back to any religion.

My point, or question is. I'm really surprised (not knowing much about Muslims) how the Muslims have treated me on this site. Has anyonelse experienced this as well. Kudos to the Muslims. I have a new found apreciation to your believe.

Manna the food miraculously produced for the Israelites in the desert in the book of Exodus. Manna ceased to appear when the Israelites first harvested their crops in their new homeland.

But why wouldn't a loving god provide this magic superfood at other times? Why aren't starving children, who have never sinned, eating manna?

Isn't that cruel?

I do not believe in any religion, they all sound pathetic and unrealistic.I do believe in God and do believe he interferes with most of actions in this life. I appreciate everything God created for us and I treat them with respect.I try to be a good person as much as I can. I believe that every person is reponsible for their actions in this life. I don't think Jesus or anybody else is gonna forgive, save or send you to heaven. As I mentioned before, I try to be a good person and never hurt anybody, not even a plant or an animal, and I will leave the rest to the unknown. My question is, what is all this make me?I know I'm not an atheist or agnostic. Please do not leave me comments like devil believes in God too, etc. I don't need lectures on religion...If you make a sense out of what I've been talking about and know what class I fall in, I would like to know. Thank you in advance for all the answers.

Do you realize the character of Jesus was borrowed from an earlier myth?

Mithras, a Zoroastrian sun god who gained special popularity in the Roman empire just before Christianity:

Was born of a virgin on December 25th, in a cave, attended by shepherds
Was considered a great traveling teacher and master
Had 12 companions or disciples
Promised his followers immortality
Performed miracles
Sacrificed himself for world peace
Was buried in a tomb and after three days rose again
Was celebrated each year at the time of His resurrection (later to become Easter)
Was called "the Good Shepherd"
Was identified with both the Lamb and the Lion
Was considered to be the "Way, the Truth and the Light," and the "Logos," "Redeemer," "Savior" and "Messiah."
Celebrated Sunday as His sacred day (also known as the "Lord's Day,")
Celebrated a Eucharist or "Lord's Supper"

Isn't this a pretty big coincidence??

Believers, doesn't this make you think twice about the validity of the bible?
