I feel Baba Ram Dev, Yog Guru, of contemporary era is really building up the image of India though not directly hinduism. But his efforts for indigenous products will go a long way in uplifting hinduism.

First , you must understand that a Saint never belongs to any religions , & if he does , then he isn't a saint ; A saint is like a drop merged into the infinite ocean & hence the soul itself becomes God ; But loosely speaking , I dont know a single saint today that is enhancing the image of Hinduism ; The problem is that the true Hinduism is lost in the worship of Idols & false rituals ; Hinduism was once a monotheistic religion at the time of Rishis ; But over thousands of years , Hinduism has become polytheistic due to the ignorance of masses & not well organisation of Hinduism ; If you dont have one God , You cant become one ( united )

HI The world of Hinduism is belong to the stage of the earth borning. There is no need for a saint to enhance its IMAGE because the Hinduism cannot be described in words see the words of the SUNITA williams she because of reading the BAGAVAT GITA she get the will power to sustain in the SPACE like this anyone who have the experience can make the HINDUISM more famous than any saint.

I personally believe that all the 'saints' of today put together cannot be compared to or even be a tiny fraction of what a saint really means. I might sound harsh but that is the truth. If you observe, every saint today has his/her own AC convoy, people cant reach them directly, have property on their trusts' name and are booked well in advance for their audiences and programs. Why? is it in keeping pace with the modern times? Commercialized saints is what I'd prefer to call them.

No offence to them as they are doing a good job and I respect them all.

These saints of today are trying to propagate their views and beliefs under the aegis of Hinduism, which has certainly brought Hinduism in the lime light and it is reaching out to more people than before, but in bits and pieces.

I personally do not follow any saint or guru. My reason is that if they can do it why cant any one else in whatever capacity they can, strive to attain the knowledge.

Thanks

In the 6th Century, Adi Shankaracharya has established Four Mutts in four directions:
1. Shringeri Mutt, Karnataka (South)
2. Joshi Mutt, Uttarakhand (North)
3. Puri Mutt, Odisha (East)
4. Dwarka Mutt, Gujarat (West).

The pontiffs of all these mutts have not only contributed to the image of Hinduism as a religion, but also as a way of life. These mutts also have established educational institutions, hospitals, etc. for the development of people of all religion.

Swami Vivekananda(one of the pioneers who believe in unity). He called to end fanaticism in the speech he gave in World Congress in 1893. He impressed everyone by saying "Brothers and Sisters" which lulled everyone's attention.

Then came . . Maharishi Mahesh Yogi(who was the guru of Beatles), which started the famous Hippie movement, and Hare Krishna movement got attention and so did ISKCON.

Aurobindo and The Mother, said wonderful words about religion and what is their purpose. All religions are the same, as they are from the same source, THE Divine, All-giving, All-bountiful.

EDIT 1(This is my humble belief): I would've said anyone from World Community Service Center, Ramakrishna Matt, or Aurobindo Ashram.

I agree with few posts about all the present swami's drivign in Air conditioned Motorcades. Their speeches are not convincing, as there is alot of hypocrisy there. Gandhi says "Be the change you want to see in the world." If they talk about spirituality and being in A/C cars and living great life. It is not "lead by example" way.

I was told by my elders that Aurobindo, The Mother, Vethathiri Maharishi have lead by example. They've personally seen the blessed souls live by example. These great souls believed in spirituality should reach the masses especially the vital parts of the country such as Villages, and the people who are below the poverty line. They believed in spirituality to everyone, not just because you have money or give money you get a PRIORITY SEATING OR VIP Treatment or VIP Seats. That in any religion starts the bias, judgement, bias, and puts boundaries between equality. I pray more people who believe in equality and uplifting of the masses exist.

What good is the spirituality or anything if common masses cannot learn it? Why charge exhorbitant fees, while you can charge a minimal fee? We need to break the barriers which separate rich from the poor, even if it means to remove priority seating and regular seats in spiritual, religious places.

People(I am not willing to mention names as I stand for unity, If revealed will create argument and disunity. Few things are left unsaid, and let us focus on positive things.) preach spirituality and they have many wives and illicit affairs. This has been prevalent in the countries I've been, it is not a local situation. We need peoples who act the opposite of what people have seen, with situations like this.

I am praying to see them in near future, and believe people like that exist. Hope this helps.

Sir ,
can you add ''LIVING''or OR '' Passed away'' in the question to make us to try to reply, please?

Edit:

Thank you brother,
As far as my knowledge and understanding goes. Swami Sivananda ( late) and Sri Vidya Prakashananda giri Swamy of Erpedu Ashram near Kalahasti in Andhra Pradesh, and
Paramahamsa Yoganaga and the Late Sri Sukhabodhaananda Swamy of Ramakrishna Cult were excellent in spreading the Hinduism in its real sense.
Swamy Vivekananda did a great service and great works and speeches and life are really a model .but his level of teaching was at a higher level and it appears he assumed some basic education of listeners.
I personally admire Sri sankara Bhagavth Padada for his very Great works and tremondous super human effort in spreading the advaitic Hinduism tavelling 5 times from Kanyakumari To Kashmir and establishing sarada Peethams. His Brahma Sutra Bhasyam, Is superb,Bhajagovindam is so beautiful and convey the quintessence in small words and hats off to him.Among all I like Sri Sankara Bhavath paduku and sri Swamy Sivananda.(my personal liking).

The present day Babas and swamijis , travelling in Luxurious cars and living in Palacial building and doing miracles here and there . are many.
Some how I do not like their way of teaching(my personal opinion please). And I think they are responsible to some extent in degrading our sanathan dharma, by their conduct it self.

I think, every Hindu Saint enhances the prestige of Hinduism. In fact, Saints are sent by God to enhance the prestige of the Hindu religion when there is a general decline in its honour.
