There are Gospels written by people who didn't actually meet Jesus in person. There are Epistles written by people who did know Jesus in person. The Gospels are taken as more valuable. Doesn't make sense somehow, does it?
If there was a Gospel written by Jesus wouldn't God have made sure it survived?

Interesting. My response is because Jesus was not ever truly an historical person, but rather that most of the stories, events, history, whatever, that is credited to him were retellings of older legends, with the name "Jesus" put in for what ever the earlier hero had been callled. That's just my opinion.

Maybe it's just like autobiography. It's always written by others and what's in it is whatever the writer believe.

Jesus did not write the Gospel, he practised it. Somebody wrote with their own understanding, which may not too far different but still as it was not corrected by Jesus himself maybe there are bits that's not QUITE as what it was, but close.
Iam not christian but nothing wrong with the teaching for and about love in christianity.
The Gospels are taken more valuable as it is the interpertation and the explanation to the epistles which may bit difficult for "ordinary" people at that time. At that time not many can read and write, people need a simple way to explain, so gospels needed for that purpose.

Any how, as times goes by, we all challenged to think and to evaluate. Some people dont want to do it some people think it is important.
Some people seek the truth with awareness, some people just take what they were told.
Some people scared of hell, some people challenge it.
*(Some people of course dont care but we limit this discussion related to yr question)* .

I think yr question is valid for those who seek, but I see here one of them really get angry.

Jesus is the living Word- and actually He did write the scriptures, through those men. Every word in the Bible, Old testament, and new was God-breathed. The gospels were written by men, inspired by the Holy Spirit, pointing all men to the LIVING WORD OF GOD- Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the time Jesus was old enough and wise enough to write this stuff, we was way to busy going around and performing miracles. But God uses people to kjeep a record of the events of Jesus. In Revelations, God commanded the writer to record those events, for example.

Socrates had several disciples (among them Plato) , and preceding orators such as (Aristotle), and yet, he never wrote a single thing, either. And, yet, his teachings survive today, as well.

Why do you think Socrates' philosophy has survived this long?

For the same reason Jesus' pragmatic philosophies (or gospels, as some like to call them) survive, too.

Honest answer?

The gospels arent actually proven true in many facts other than the existence of Jesus himself. I had a religious studies professor who had a theory that Jesus' revolution wasnt an actual intended revolution, and that after his death, the religion was advanced greatly by followers who never actually followed him. this theory might actually explain the lack of his own writings...and that is because he never intended that the world follow so strictly.

but that's just a thought.

FAITH....the Gospel of Jesus Christ..the book of Revelations..

Every Jewish boy went to temple and learned to read and write...To read the Torah in the temple with the rest of the men....

Jesus read in the temple and was called Rabbi...

Jesus read in the temple from the book of Isiah..."that within thy hearing this day is the prophecy fulfilled." and the people chased him out of the temple to stone him....

God made sure the word survived......

doesn't any one read their Bible and remember what they are reading???

Why do people assume that all of the chips are in? How do we know that Jesus didn't write anything, a Gospel included? Because we don't have one?

That's pretty presumptuous.

It is because the four gospels are witnessed account of HIS disciples. Thus, HIS disciples were the ones who wrote the gospels to testify for HIM.
