...because he wanted to make humans, and have them worship him, enjoy his works, etc., why did he make 99.99% of the Universe unihabitable to us? And, no, I cannot accept "He works in mysterious ways" as an answer--too mythological. I also cannot accept "Who am I to question God" as an answer, because if He made us sentient beings, with the ability to question why He does what He does, why can't we use that ability--He surely would have seen questions like this coming, if He is all powerful and all knowing.

I am not an athiest or even an agnostic, and never have been. Just trying to find rational answers.

The Scripture verses state: "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

You cannot use the bible to prove the bible.

Is there some outside source that proves this absurd assumption?

I'm specifically thinking about the special task/ministry that God calls us to... What if someone senses God's call on their life, and for whatever reason - can't/won't follow through on it....What happens then?

is the same Bible that our ancestors used to justify slavery?

Do you realize the Southern Baptist Denomination was formed because the Southern Baptists split from the Northern Baptists...because Southern Baptists thought slavery was ordained by God.

http://www.sbc.net/resolutions/amResolution.asp?ID=899

So, most would agree that our religious, Southern Baptist ancestors who called themselves Christians were wrong about slavery...eventhough they felt very strongly about it, and had Biblical evidence to back up their belief...

Do you not realize that maybe you are wrong today about homosexuality...eventhough you feel you have Biblical evidence to back up your belief?

Our ancestors were convicted of their beliefs about slavery...just as you feel convicted of your beliefs about homosexuality.

Your thoughts?

There are a lot of Christians out there that are against birth control. Is the Mormon religion one of them? If so, why are you against it? For other Christians against birth control, does it say in your bible somewhere why you should not use birth control?

Jesus said, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no where to lay His head." Jesus lived a life a self denial and complete charity. Why is it that the church who claims to represent Him has an extra 600 million bucks to pay those who were sexually abused by its leaders. Forget the sexual abuse claim, how can one diocese have a spare 600 mil when there are so many needs in the world? Can one truly say that the present day Roman Catholic Church really represents the all caring, self denying Christ?

Age old question.Increasing number of Indian Muslims deny having sympathy with Pakistan or other countries simply because they are Muslim majority. If this feeling is genuine of course it is welcomed.
However there remain certain Questions that remain
1) Do they still have an agenda to convert Hindus to Islam? My own experiance -- Got to know a muslim family well through my friendship with their son. In uk we played cricket for the same side. I was warmly welcomed and had dinner with them on several occassions. After some time they told me that they really liked me and if I would consider conversion to Islam. I told them that I believed GOD is one and changing my faith formaly does not make any sense to me. Soon after I noticed the warmth disappear. The smiles almost alltogether lost their charm. Even my friend became cold.
This experiance made me observe the Muslim mind set and was really alarmed.

Please give us more than Bible verses.

For the longest time you railed against the "homosexual lifestyle" because you said we were all promiscuous thugs.

Now, we want to get married and commit to each other and you tell us it threatens the santity of marriage...

So, isn't this double talk...you say we are promiscuous...we want to commit...but, you won't let us...what gives?

Matthew 7: 1Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment
ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it
shall be measured to you again.

Does it mean that you should only judge others if they are gay?

Isn't that up to God?

I'm considering doing an audio version of the Koran in English for LibriVox.org. I want it to be as widely available as possible, so I do not want to do the Shakir or Ali translation, because it's not public domain in many countries outside the U.S.. The three other ones I know about are the Pickthall, Rodwell, and Sale translations. Which of these are the best?

Then the lights in the world go out and it is dark all around your house. And God was just staring at you.

What if it happened during the day, and the day go into straight darkness, and God was staring at you. The world is pitch black.

Can you see that Christianity began 2007 years ago, and beyond that thru the Jewish faith, to the beginning of time? Does this comfort you? Do you know there was a large influx of cults in the 1800's in America? Specifically Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses, Christian Science and others. How do you explain this influx?

What if He only said..'I forgive you' to those that didn't support Him or failed to recognized Him when the Romans soldiers came, including or not Judas, and/not those that wanted Him crucified or crucified Him or mocked Him. What if afterwards, the Disciples were teaching the masses that Jesus forgave us and died for our sins, and the masses misinterpreted this, or the Disciples warped it to favor their own agenda/mission, or maybe the First Church warped it. I know..."what if" ...''what if''....but I do wonder about this, and I wonder what your thoughts are. What if all of those safety nets in "He did for our sins" .... are misinterpretations, or warped truths?
Just a Theist THINKing....what is your opinion?
