"Why you gettin' all up in my grill?"

If not, what is more effective?

2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Doesn't a literal interpretation of this verse say that if Christians were truly humble, and truly turned from their wicked ways, and truly sought God, then he would heal our land?

So, isn't the denigration of society really caused by the fundamentalist Christians and not the non-believers.

So, why all the preaching to the unsaved..instead of getting your home in order....if Christians were truly the people they should be, wouldn't that heal the world?

far more intelligent that the protestants or evangelicals.

Whenever I ask a question I get a fair and sensible response from the Catholic people.

The others just seem to resort to, spitting out some out of contect bible quotes that they have been thought at Chruch. The worst thing is when you look at the answers you realise that these people are being thought by ministers or pastors who likewise are interpreting the bible the way they want.

i ask about baptisim and I get some person acting like they know the greek when they dont.

Granted their are human failings on all sides but the Catholic Theology is a lot more sound that the protestant.

The bible isint God.

I know that this was along time ago, almost 10yrs. but it is still a law in effect. Not brought to light as much as it was b/c profanity, cursing, ect. has become "the norm." but still...
READ ALL...
Fighting Words and Other Threats to the Peace.—In Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, the Court unanimously sustained a conviction under a statute proscribing “any offensive, derisive, or annoying word” addressed to any person in a public place under the state court’s interpretation of the statute as being limited to “fighting words”— i.e., to “words . . . [which] have a direct tendency to cause acts of violence by the person to whom, individually, the remark is addressed.” The statute was sustained as “narrowly drawn and limited to define and punish specific conduct lying within the domain of state power, the use in a public place of words likely to cause a breach of the peace.”

Do you use "fighting words " to express your opinion?

I feel bad cause I feel I'm testing him or something. And I want to believe he's real but I just don't know what to believe anymore. Please Help!

Im a criminology student and have come across the main legal cases (i.e. Keegstra) concerning Canadians who debated whether the holocaust occured or not. If I am not mistaken, it is not a crime to do so in the US (I could be wrong).
I am curious as to why debating either whether it actually happened or if all the numbers are accurate, isnt allowed or is frowned upon?
Everything else is up for debate; nothing else is treated as infallible and every current and historical event or matter is open for questioning especially in a setting of higher education. Why is it that the holocaust is seen almost as untouchable including on university campuses where debate and asking questions is key and freedom of speech and thought as well.
If it is about prevention of harm to others or sensitivity, then why is that exclusive only to the holocaust and not other wars, genocides, religious matters etc.?
Please try to refrain from rude replies.

The idea makes no sense to most of us, because we don't believe in souls. Can someone explain the concept to me without using mysticism or supernatural ideas?

Say: ‘Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with him; be good and dutiful to your parents; kill not your children because of poverty – We provide sustenance for you and for them; come not near to al-fawaahish (shameful sins, illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), whether committed openly or secretly; and kill not anyone whom Allaah has forbidden, except for a just cause (according to Islamic law). This He has commanded you that you may understand.
And come not near to the orphan’s property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength; and give full measure and full weight with justice. We burden not any person, but that which he can bear. And whenever you give your word (i.e., judge between men or give evidence, etc.), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfil the Covenant of Allaah. This He commands you, that you may remember.
And, verily, this (i.e., Allaah’s commandments mentioned in the above two verses) is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become al-muttaqoon (the pious).” [al-An’aam 6:151-153]

I've heard a lot of people say that they look forward to "Going home", which is in reference to heaven. But I'm a little confused about this. Please, just hear me out.

If we're supposed to be in heaven, why did God put Adam and Eve on the earth in a paradise? What would have been the purpose of putting humans on the earth, simply to die and go to heaven? And when someone dies (especially a child), why do people say "God needed another angel"? If God needed an angel, He could just make one...He's God! I mean, where in the Bible does it say that when babies die they're angels in heaven? This just doesn't make sense!

Please, let's try to act like adults and keep this civil. Thanks.

There are many reasons for us to exist on this planet. But there is one main reason, of course to glorify God, to Spread the gospel, and so on. But there is one reason that benefits us as christians, and paves the way of destruction for the non-believer.

I'm the daughter of a Christian and a Jew, but I was told that I could choose my own religion, so I've never gone to church or synagogue regularly. I do pray every night, but I have the nagging feeling that my prayers aren't being heard because God might be a placebo, and might not exist. Honestly, I don't understand devout Catholics or atheists - how can either be sure that God does or doesn't exist? And how can so many people be so passionate about their faith, yet I can't seem to believe, even though I wish I did?

So..what makes you so sure that God exists?

now, i was saved when i was 5 years old. but i made sure of it several times. i believe that Jesus died on the Cross. but i have been reading matthew lately, and am starting to think that maybe just believing in Jesus Christ is not enough. i mean, if you ask Jesus into your heart, but you dont live like a Christian, are you still going to heaven? i you listen to bad music, cuss, get in fights, steal, cheat, and lie on a regular basis even though you are saved, is there really a difference between you and a non-christian. i really want some well grounded Christians to help me, because my faith is starting to struggle. i have seen so many referenses in the book of matthew that are making me believe that being saved isnt enough. someone please help me out.

Well, every night i check the time, like any one else would. But every time i look at the clock on the microwavem it's ALWAYSE 9:11pm. It doesn't stay 9:11 for ever, but the first time i look at what time it is at night, it always happends to be 9:11. This has been happening for as long as i can remember.

So i thought about it, and came to a resonable explanation. It must be a sign from God. I looked up in the Bible Psalms 9:11. I looked in Psalms because It's always 9:11 PM.. and Psmals would be the closest thing to PM... PM kind of abrieviates Psamls. And when i found the verse Pslams 9:11 it read:

"Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings."

I looked up Zion, and it means the land of Jerusilm.

My question is, could God be telling me to go to Jerusilm and Sing prasies to Him? I'm really confused. Maybe you guys could help me out.

thanks.
