2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Doesn't a literal interpretation of this verse say that if Christians were truly humble, and truly turned from their wicked ways, and truly sought God, then he would heal our land?

So, isn't the denigration of society really caused by the fundamentalist Christians and not the non-believers.

So, why all the preaching to the unsaved..instead of getting your home in order....if Christians were truly the people they should be, wouldn't that heal the world?

Christ told us we are to love God with all our heart and treat others as we want to be treated. This definitely applies to Christians, but "the Golden Rule" is a simple rule that anyone, religious or non-religious, can follow. If every human did this, we could heal the world.

For the traditional reason. they're basically watching floor claims, and paying no interest to information. Hitler vs. the Jews gets reported as an occasion. yet every physique who believes that international conflict II grow to be approximately Hitler desirous to wipe out the Jews is paying no interest to the the remainder of history. Blaming a foul financial equipment on the Jews and applying them as scapegoats grow to be a fascist tactic -- it grow to be no longer the reason Hitler's strikes. Or take the Crusades: they have been quite approximately possession of severe east-west commerce routes and capital in land; back, the non secular reasons have been excuses yet had little to do with genuine motivation. The wars interior the middle East right this moment at the instant are not approximately faith; they're approximately who gets to stay the place, and what rights which persons might desire to have, and no count number if Western firms might desire to dominate middle jap economies. The fact "money is the inspiration of all evil" is a lot nearer to the certainty.

One, that was speaking to Jews in a different context. Remember, context is very important. Anyway, Christianity promotes charity, love for others, forgiveness which will heal relationships, self-control which will deny addictions, etc. So no, it's actually ppl who deny God who are bringing those troubles down. That verse isn't judging us as individuals, but as a whole, and as a whole, America and the world has rejected God.

That was to the Jewish nation. Christians live all over the world. There is no truly Christian nation. You are correct in that if all the Christians were more loving, it would make a big difference in this country. On the flip side, what if there were no Christians here? Contrary to what some think, it might be pretty bad.

No, there are people from every religion that cause problems in the world. I mean the Taliban prevented women from getting proper Ob-gyn care and women were dying by the droves. Women are raped and purposely given HIV by warring tribes in Africa. Look at the friction between Muslims, Jews, and Palestinians in the Middle East. World troubles can't be pinpointed to any one group of people. And no, I am not a Christian.

It probably seems that way in a country of predominantly Christians. If you live in a country that was predominantly Xists, then Xists would appear to be the culprets.

The real problem is "us and them" thinking. Psychologists call it "groupthink." That just means that a person thinks stricktly in all or nothing, black and white, pure good vs. pure evil terms.

That's what creates factions and extreamists. IF IT ISN'T ONE RELIGION, the same people would find another.

It's not about groups, but sick undeveloped people.

I am a Christian, not because of other Christians. In fact, I've met a lot of lousy Christians in my life. Even more, I've met a lot of people who are lousy humans but they use the label "Christian" to make themselves look better (I guess). Does this mean that I, like the non-believer, am not a Christian? I don't think so. Christianity is about Christ. I am not impressed with Christians, but I am impressed with Christ. So I follow him, because even though others (including myself) have a hard time of it sometimes... he didn't have a hard time of it. I don't claim to be able to empower non-believers to live a good life. But Jesus can if they allow him to form their souls. In our culture, I believe that many Christians do a lame job of following Jesus because most people aren't taught how to follow Jesus. So what do we expect of people who receive Jesus as their Savior but are not taught how to follow Him? I expect them to come up pretty short. Whose fault is that? Well, many factors, of which our culture is part of it. But let me add one more thing: I find that whether Christian or not most people claim that they know what goodness is and that they should be good people and that most of them, in their honest moments, have a hard time doing that too. So we're all hypocrites in some sense. Now the question is: who will help us? I think only Christ can help us with this predicament. The Bible calls it sin. It also says that Christ died for the unrighteous (all of us) so that he might bring us to God. Our goal is to be brought to God and to be transformed by Him in the process. This is a long journey...but it doesn't negate the truth of Christ. Again, look to Christ. He is the one that is claiming to be the answer. It's our job to point to him with our life and always allow him to be the final authority.

Christians are not the cause of all of the trouble in the world, sin is. The Chronicles verse was directed to the Hebrews, which explains why our inability to be perfect causes all of the problems, and why we need to look to Jesus Christ to be saved from that sin.

Last time I checked, the vast majority of the world's problems were coming from non-Christian nations:

Iran, Pakistan, China, North Korea, the entire Mid-East.

No, this is not the reason there are troubles in the world. There are troubles because there is evil in the world.

Why would you think that because of things that happened thousands of years ago, Christians are to blame for what happens NOW?

Get real..
