To some extent, yes. Camp Quest is great, but it's only in a few areas.

The problem is that, due to anti-atheist discrimination, many parents of school age children are loathe to come "out of the closet" in their community, both because the children might suffer harassment and because people have lost jobs.

I think there is a distinct competitive disadvantage.

The common, uneducated people love themselves some fundamentalist bible churchin'. Science and reasoning only appeal to a small portion of the literate population. Our education systems are failing. People are becoming more illiterate. Stupid people are breeding faster.

You see where this is all trending?

No, they just aren't called that. My unitarian church has a summer camp/summer day "school" devoted to free-thinking and letting the children explore numerous religions.

Because it's just called summer camp. They don't need to make it "Avalanche Adventure!" or some other stupid name to get kids to attend.

Because it's unethical to send children to be indoctrinated by a belief system. It's up to each adult person to decide their spiritual beliefs or non spiritual .

all i remember making at camp are those goofy "god's eyes" out of sticks and yarn. what would we call those? forget it, we'd have better crafts.
