Age old question.Increasing number of Indian Muslims deny having sympathy with Pakistan or other countries simply because they are Muslim majority. If this feeling is genuine of course it is welcomed.
However there remain certain Questions that remain
1) Do they still have an agenda to convert Hindus to Islam? My own experiance -- Got to know a muslim family well through my friendship with their son. In uk we played cricket for the same side. I was warmly welcomed and had dinner with them on several occassions. After some time they told me that they really liked me and if I would consider conversion to Islam. I told them that I believed GOD is one and changing my faith formaly does not make any sense to me. Soon after I noticed the warmth disappear. The smiles almost alltogether lost their charm. Even my friend became cold.
This experiance made me observe the Muslim mind set and was really alarmed.

funny how people read a long question with interest only to say "who cares"!
Why even bother to respond if you dont care.

I have to clerify acouple of things here. When this Muslim family asked me to convert myself It wsa not like ther was a fierce argument. They were very sweet and I too did not find it offensive. My postion was and still is that I will gladly Come to your Masjid and Pray like you do if you let me! Just chaning my name does not make any sense to me. God Or Allah or Jessus is not going to throw me out on a technicality!
2) For people to say I am loyal to Allah first is not understanding my question. For thatmatter my loyalty as a Hindu is first to God too and same applies to people of other faiths. We are talking about back stabbing and being systamaticaly disloyal to India for no reason at all.

how long do look at an apple to find it good or bad? Time and again Muslim agenda is to support only Muslims. Quite often they do not let their views be known or fake their true feelings to suite the moment. Islamic immigration in any country is more acuratlely known as Islamic insurgency. Before long they want special previlages as Muslims and show no loyalty to the country of their residence. Any time there is a conflict between Muslims and non Muslims, the Muslims the world over side with the Muslims regardless of who is right or wrong. Naturely Muslims sports figures and entertainers love the privilages that come with being successfull. That does not mean loyalty at all. How often do u hear them condeming Pakistan or fellow muslims. Their silence say it all. Even if there are some who are loyal to india, their numbers are negligible and they are hated by the vast majority of other muslims. Again among seemingly loyal Muslims, resoting to lies to show their loyalty is obvious and that is not comforting at all.

Well I am a Proud Indian and I am a Muslim. I have been living in a multicultural society I have friends who are non-muslims I respect their faith their religion and their way of life. I am happy and proud that I am an Indian and I am ready to do anything for my country and the wellbeing of its people. All Muslims are not the same. I don't even consider Terrorists like Bin Laden as Muslims. I am loyal to my country. I sing my national anthem holding my head high with all the respect.

I believe in secuilarism and India was is and will be a secuilarist country :). You have met only one Muslim family all are not alike. I pray for world peace and I hate terrorism and wars. I don't want any innocent being to be hurt no matter their religion

~Peace :)

I like the answers given by RAKSHAS & NQV...
Btw, Arif dear, we all know Ramsey is incorrect but instead of losing your temper you could have justified your stand - Remember nobody can ask you to walk out of your own home!

Corruption, Terrorism & other anomalies are in no way linked to anybody's religion. The people who try to emphasise their say on the basis of religion or those who help/commit heinous acts can neither be called as Muslims nor as Hindus or of any religion for that matter - they are to be branded as TRAITORS...and nothing else.

Your particular case, those people might have had their own perception about their religion, not just Muslims even Christians attempt to convert people. But, PLEASE DO NOT EQUATE an 'attempt to conversion' with 'non-loyalty to the country'. These two are entirely separate issues.

Moreover, those who call themselves as a Muslim (history not traceable beyond 3000 years) or Christian (history not beyond 2500 years) were too once upon a time Hindus (all were Hindus - Followers of Sanatana Dharma before the onslaught of violent rulers who attempted mass conversion at various points of time).

So, consider yourself lucky that you were not born during the time of Babar or Aurangzeb, b'coz, then your refusal to convert would have cost you your life!

You made a mistake by saying God is one as if you have seen the evidence of a personal God. The bottom line is that no matter what the religion it is Blind Faith ! And that is a poor way to think. Ask for empirical evidence before you believe in anything. And maybe you should try to get your Muslim friends to think instead of blindly following what an old book says.

There are different kinds of people . I had good friends among Muslims and chritians .I was always welcome in thier families and they treated me as a member of their families . they never asked me toconvert to their religion. My christain frinds had taken me to the their churches and still they did not ak me to convert .My muslim friend did not take me to the mosque and I too did not ask him to do so. The chritian friend took me to the church , since we were always together as very good friends and who used to go to tschool together play cards together and roam about the city together till he left the school to join the Air force .Now wewn after retirement we do not find time to meet amd spend time together .The religion di dnt stand in the way of friendship There may be people who would like to convert their friends to their religion.
But awhat I have seen most people is they do not mingle wiht the Hindus with an open heart and keep themself aloof even if hey happen to be neighbours .in a very few rare cases .Mostly they live in places populated by people of their own community . I have seen certain Hindus Hindus not willing to rent their houses to Muslims or have them as neighbours for no specific reasons . Similar is the case with Anglo Indians .But inmost cases , it is the mentality of the people of the minority religions keeping htemselves aloof and not mixing freely with the people of other religions that marks them as aliens . they too have more sypathy towards ohter countries with majority muslim population. It looks that they consider thier religons to be more important than their country.the do not seem to consider the contry they live in as mother country.they do not have the concept of mother country.. The chritins seem tobe different from the muslims and they are able to mix up wihtht eHindus in a better manner , though they alsowould like to hae the Hindus converted to thier religion. In case of any problem betwee a Muslim and a Hindu those in charge of settling the dispute show some preference and leniency towards the Muslim. similar is the case with the christians , TheMajority of the Hindus do not show such partiality in most cases .

Scum like Ramsay James can create more extremists amongst Indian Muslims than Osama bin Laden and other people like Osama all put together.
And by the way majority, in fact 99% of the people caught selling National secrets are not Muslims, they are all Hindus.

Certainly yes. Opinions may differ but loyalty to our motherland is the same with most of the communities. Don't we differ on many things in our own families? Your observation on the change of warmth may be the reflection of your thoughts.

I feel sad to know that your friend and his family was disappointed when you spoke your heart and talked about your belief. I would consider myself as lucky bcos so far my muslim friends have been good and never asked me to convert or so. Actually we did not bring religion between our friendship and i am glad that i have such inter religion friends who are more concerned about friendship rather than religion.

Hope your friend realizes this....
