It would be wonderful if it were that way. But God gives us the choice to sin or not. He does not say the road will be easy. I'm concerned about your not being content. Are you too hard on yourself to be perfect? Do you truly have THE relationship with the Lord? Becoming a Christian means you have to be diligent in seeking His approval.
Read His word daily and ask for Him to show you the way. He loves you and He will.

That is very normal. Christ said, "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it."
Just because you have accepted Christ into your heart, which is great by the way, doesn't mean everything is going to go perfect in your life. :(
I cannot give you a best way for you to keep your eyes on the Lord, but I can tell you what I do. I'm not perfect, but this is what I am doing when I feel closest to the Lord.
I pray everyday, morning and night, and over my meals, and when I feel like I should pray. I read my scriptures carefully and try to understand what they mean. I attend my church meetings on Sunday and try to go to fun activities my church puts on during the week (usually it is just fun stuff like choir or going to the park). I help others because charity is a good thing.
If you are still very worried that you cannot overcome your sins completely, I would advise you to talk to your religious leader about what you should do. :) I do that sometimes and it helps me.

Yes...it is normal to struggle with daily sins. You have to remember that we are flesh, that is human. When we are born - again, we become a new creature in Christ, but we still have that old sin nature that we inherited for Adam. The flesh still wants to do the the things, it did, before it became saved. This is why we as Christians have to continue to read and study the Word of God, which is the Holy Bible alone. And we have to pray and ask God to strengthen our daily walk with him. Through the Holy Sprirt. We can't do it on our own.

It is TOTALLY normal. Even the most Christ-like, holy person you know, struggles with sin. And Jesus never said that following Him would be easy, He just said it would be worth it in the end. I personally feel the best way to stay close to God
is by prayer, getting into The Word and surrounding yourself with people who remind you that He's there for you during the hard times.
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."
~James 1:2-3 (New International Version)~
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
~1 John 1:9 (New International Version)~
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

You will never be perfect and Jesus never promised that u wouldn't have any of these things. It's the fact that u keep fighting and that even though u sin u repent. This is wat the LOrd wants from us, simply to turn from ur sins. Read the bible and walk with the Lord daily i.e always have Christian things around u and that will help u to stay strong.

Honey: Just because you have been born again it doesn't mean that your sinful tendencies will subside. You still need to grow up in your faith and become strong in it. The way you do it is by spending time in daily prayer, 15 minutes or so, when you first awake. You also need to begin reading the Bible so that you may grow in knowledge and not be deceived by Satan. Finally, you need to attend church where you can obtain strenght from friends and family.
We are all human and have sinful tendencies, but we need to equip ourselves with God's power to live a holy life. By the way, have you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit? If not, why not? He is God's power for you to live a holy life.
Please write me with more questions. I would love to hear from you and know how you are growing in Christ.
Cheers,
Mr. M on "normal."

part of being human is to be flawed. Its normal to struggle with sin your whole life. Before jesus, only one human ever made it to heaven, and even he had some sins.
Jesus is there because God accepts we are flawed and still wants a relationship with us all. Just be the best person you can and don't dwell on your sins, apologize, forgive, and move on.
To the lady above: Thats not christianity thats catholacism. my church is bible based, it doesnt teach fear or ignorance, it teaches kindness and love. It also makes us challenge our beliefs daily, I wasnt born christian, i chose to become one.

Contrary to popular belief it is possible for you to live a lifestyle above sin. Not to say that you won't sin, but that it's not apart of your daily lifestyle. Certain emotions are indicators of a spiritual deficeit in your life. For instance, if you are constantly feeling jealous you are probably suffering from low self esteem. Your self esteem can only be truely boosted when you see yourself in light of God's word. What does God have to say about you? How does he describe his children? Once you find that out you have to constantly say it to yourself until you believe it. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Your faith in what God has to say about you is dependent on what you KNOW he said.
Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
You the word lives in you and you live in the word you can't continue in sin because darkness and light have no fellowship with one another.
Joshua 1:8 says Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
After you have Christ as your savior you must have the word, prayer, and fellowship as your foundation. Now that you have Christ you need to get into his word and let his word get into you.

The apostle Paul confessed that he struggled with sin (Romans 7 & 8). If someone like Paul still struggled, then obviously you will too!
This is not an excuse for sinful living, it is just a fact of this life that we will always struggle with temptation while we are still in this sinful body. You will get a pure body when you are in heaven.
