Can you see that Christianity began 2007 years ago, and beyond that thru the Jewish faith, to the beginning of time? Does this comfort you? Do you know there was a large influx of cults in the 1800's in America? Specifically Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses, Christian Science and others. How do you explain this influx?

The influx is from the fact that we are warned about many false prophets in the end times as the spirit of antichrist is already here.

I'm not Christian, but I can trace Christianity back to the early 1st century of the Common Era when it was still a sect of Judaism. (Christianity did not begin in the year 1, by the way. Try about 30 or so years later.) Then I can trace the Israelites backwards through time as they gathered and wrote do their scriptures. The Jewish faith has not existed since the beginning of time though. About 1850-1450 BCE is when the Biblical patriarchs were nomads in the Fertile Crescent. Civilizations were already under way over a thousand years earlier in Egypt and Mesopotamia. So, I can even trace the origins of the Jewish stories to other sources.

I can explain the splitting of Christianity because that's what it's been doing since the Protestants left the Catholic church about 500 years ago. Immediately after Luther broke away, other denominations were founded as well. About 200 years ago, in Christianity, the idea that predestination, that God elected people for salvation, seems to have been forgotten. Instead, people believed that they just had to love Jesus in order to get into heaven, so that could be why there were new sects.

Joseph Smith was used by Satan to establish the Mormon Church by claiming to have visions that were so inconsistant.
Jehovah Witnesses thought the world was going to end. Christian is just a strange blend of some of this and some of that. In the 1800's because of various Protestant revivals people began to think in terms of "Manifest Destiny."
This lead to alot of headaches for native Americans, and many others who were trapped in the white mans self proclaimation of self righteousness.

Well, there were a great number of cults 2007 years ago as well.
I explain it like this:
First we invented the hamburger, and it was good!
A guy named Ray Kroc came along and decided he knew what the perfect hamburger should be like, so he invented McDonalds....and many followed. Then came along a fellow who started Burger King....he thought he was right, and on and on......and many strayed from the original hamburger...
There will always be people that believe that they have a "handle" on the topic and go their different way. And there are lot of people who will follow anyone that stands up and says, "I have the answer"
I am comforted because i believe that i know the true God. I am a Christian, because i believe in Christ, and because Christ has made Himself real to me

Christianity traces its roots back to creation and scriptures back to Moses. The first Scriptures God gave to man the first book of Moses called Genesis is the first book of the Bible.
I am comforted by Gods word that it is in agreement and all of God's prophets are in agreement with the word we have.
There have been false prophets and we were warned by God that there would be false prophets and we are told how to know the true prophets of God. Some will inevitably follow a lie rather than seek the truth. The roots of Christianity are thousands of years before Christ and before Judaism.

Differentiation in belief, does not require explanation. It is simply differences of belief.

In addition, Jesus Christ himself stated that when he died, all of his teachings would get twisted. Then many different groups would claim to have the truth. He stated there would only be one truth, and one way to worship, but that many would be claiming to be that one way. Paul and Peter stated the same thing. A time period would arise when ones began search for the truth, and by using the scriptures, they would begin to understand what had been hidden for a long time. Though it would be a long process.

1 Timothy 4:1-3 . . .However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons, by the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, marked in their conscience as with a branding iron; forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth. . .

Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 ... Another illustration he set before them, saying: “The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man that sowed fine seed in his field. While men were sleeping, his enemy came and oversowed weeds in among the wheat, and left. When the blade sprouted and produced fruit, then the weeds appeared also. So the slaves of the householder came up and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow fine seed in your field? How, then, does it come to have weeds?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy, a man, did this.’ They said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go out and collect them?’ He said, ‘No; that by no chance, while collecting the weeds, YOU uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the harvest season I will tell the reapers, First collect the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them up, then go to gathering the wheat into my storehouse.’. . .

. . .

. . .Then after dismissing the crowds he went into the house. And his disciples came to him and said: “Explain to us the illustration of the weeds in the field.” In response he said: “The sower of the fine seed is the Son of man; the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one, and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is a conclusion of a system of things, and the reapers are angels. Therefore, just as the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the conclusion of the system of things. The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out from his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and persons who are doing lawlessness, and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where [their] weeping and the gnashing of [their] teeth will be. At that time the righteous ones will shine as brightly as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him that has ears listen.

Matthew 7:15-21 . . .Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men]. “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.. . .

2 Peter 2:1 - However, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among YOU. These very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves.

Matthew 7:13-14 . . .Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it. . .

In the Gospel of John, it is written The Word was God and the Word [JESUS] was with God. Since God is Eternal, and Jesus is God and Christianity is About Jesus, then invoking logic, then Christianity literally is also Eternal as well.

The official name of the religion is "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses", and so they believe their religion to be a restoration of the worship and pattern of the apostles and other first century C.E. Christians. Of course, the bible cites Jesus Christ and also Adam's son Abel as "Witnesses" and the beginnings of pure worship.

(Hebrews 11:4;12:1,2) Abel... had witness borne to him that he was righteous, God bearing witness... Because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus

(Revelation 1:5) Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness”

The modern history of the religion began in the 1870's.
