Atheists aren't always moral, a lot of times they aren't but if they are then it's usually based on what they believe is right and wrong. Sometimes it has to do with offending people and so they usually tend to not want to offend people, but they forget about that when it has to deal with Christians. God help atheists realize they are lost sinners and need the love of the one and only true savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

This is one of those groaner questions. It gets asked all of the time and gets answered all the time. Yet there are always people who jump on here and think that they will show just how smart they are by asking this question.
If you get a "Drink" response, it is because of questions like this.
What is the morality of the other religions based on? Do you feel that the aboriginal people of Australia are immoral for not being christian? If they show morality, what then? Does that mean that there is no supernatural force handing out morality? Perhaps, morality is more of a creation made by man than by god(s). You know, with all that living in a society for millenia, it is possible that humans have figured out a few things for themselves.

I base my morality on my conscience and that I simply wouldn't do anything to another person that I would not want done to me. That's just logical...I don't need to be frightened into being moral; I am moral because it serves me well to be that way. Of course, that also depends on what you think morality means. For instance, I occasionally behave in what some people would call an immoral way -- I smoke pot, I feel schadenfreude at times about others -- but I am not harming anyone so who is to say I am not moral?

By far the most moral people of all. Morality is based on common sense, the law, the Golden Rule, personal pride.
Morals pre-date modern religions by many thousands of years. The beginning of morals is called civilization. Morals may be taught in the church, but they pre-date the church. Why people believe that you must go to church to be moral is really baffeling.
Which church do you have to belong to in order to be moral ? The Jewish church teaches morals, does that mean that Christians are immoral ? Use some common sense.

Our morality is based on the Golden Rule, which preceded Christianity by at least a thousand years.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Are you saying religion is the only basis for morality. That's a sad commentary. The difference is an atheist can be moral without an expectation of any reward in the 'afterlife'.

Their morality is based on their experiences, what they have read and been taught and what "seems right". In other words every single one has different morals. There is no "universal" moral system outside of religion.

Of course athiest can be moral. Morallity is not dependent on a belief in a god. There isn't a universal code for morallity; it's all based on society. Anyone who can say that atheists are immoral because they are athiest does not understand the concept of morallity.

There's a difference between "morals" and "morality." Morals are abstract ideals, like honesty, loyalty, charity, caring, kindness, etc. You can be honest, loyal, charitable, caring, and kind without believing in God.
Morality refers to a set of rules that governs behavior. To be a good Christian, for example, you have to be heterosexual, married, a father or mother, go to church regularly, tithe, etc. None of these things have anything to do with morals; you are judged by your peers as being a good person because you follow the rules, not because you are honest, loyal, charitable, caring, or kind.
Atheists can be quite moral, but I would say that they would have to figure out morality for themselves.

Yes they are I am a Christian and have Atheist friend there moral just like me. Asking them to explain the root of there morals is a different questions. Are Morals universal? can you dig for them? Who sets Moral standards? the majority? Its a hard question for them to answer, however Christians believe morals are set by the nature of GOd and are unchanging. THey are universal because there source is God, we are made in his image so we have them built in.

I'm moral, I have empathy for others and natural altruism it's my own personal choice to follow my conscience, I don't know what other atheists base their personal morality upon, there is no atheist dogma or Bible telling us how to behave as well as we mostly seem to.

Atheists are moral. They are compassionate, and they want to leave the world a better place in which they found it. They do good actions for the sake of good rather than trying to impress a Deity or Higher Power, and this is truly altruistic. They get their morality from experience and humanity.
