Of course we are just a product of the process of evolution. We don't know what or who set up the process but be assured if some disaster wiped out the human species then in time another species would evolve to take it's place so it is best not to get complacent or arrogant.

We have been very succesful with creating some kind of hell, I guess we must be part of the creation.
